Never say "never" I guess. Mr. "nothing over 45mm" caved in and bought a 50mm. Now I won't blame fans of larger watches for wearing me down. In fact I don't think I would have ever considered it except for Seiko Thailand / Robinson's having one I could try on.

When actually worn it's not at all huge because it has no lugs. Seriously, I looked around in the box and they hadn't fallen off or anything they simply aren't there. As such the 50mm case translates directly into 50mm lug-to-lug.

Thick? Yeah I guess but it's based on a can of tuna so that's expected.

And spring drive? That was a nice touch.

Into the luggage she goes - better pics upon return to US.

Very impressive indeed. A big congratulations on adding this piece to the collection. ENJOY, my friend!:applaud:

Damn! You hit a Grand Slam with that one!!!

Top of the mountain and gorgeous grail tuna can.

The tuna cans definitely wear smaller than they measure. Enjoy that one.

Holy Crap!!!! Very nice acquisition. Biggie Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

DARTH VADER THAI TUNA...2 go...yeah...TUNA wears small...i wear my quartz tuna...THOUGH I AM TRENDING SMALLER

Thai Tuna - I like that. They can be sneaky over here, they've never heard of Thanksgiving, Black Friday or Cyber Monday but they have heard of 20% off for no apparent reason.

Even with the credit card's interpretation of exchange rate it was still a pretty good price.

Oh baby! That's something really nice I see. Super Dark Side. Congrats on this beautiful piece.

Congrats Buzzard! She's a great piece.

In terms of watch size evolution, I had Venoms, SASs and other monsters, but have since preferred a 42mm sweet spot in a range of 40mm-44mm. However, like you (but, perhaps, not as dramatic a change), I went for DB's M2k at 46mm and other DB 45mms. I have to say, that, despite the watch designs and build qualities, I really am quite turned off, as of late, by 45mm+. I find that only DB as a non-high-end-brand (with the exception of Alpina, if we throw it in as a non- top brand) can net me a slight positive enough to buy it.

Hellz Yeah, a 50mm Seiko! I like it! That thing is big enough to shoehorn a 24 valve V8 into. (then you could really use that E to F fuel gauge :) ) Congrats on stepping up to a biggun, Looking forward to stateside pics.

I suspect this was a one-shot. It was lurking in the same display with a pile of Astrons which I also tried on to see if they seemed more wearable than their 48mm would suggest. They were't. A clear case of 48 being bigger than 50.

Except for Seiko having Tunas in stock in Mega BangNa, Samut Prakan I would have cheerfully gone to my grave without ever entertaining the notion. Actually trying it on opened a whole new can but I doubt it will spread to other 50s.

I have been a Seiko fan since '69. Always a great bang for the buck. But I've never gone swimming for them in the deep end of the pool. You did, and you hooked yourself a trophy many of us would be ecstatic to own. Congrats on an amazing piece. I'm sure it will serve you well.
