Hey all. I was out in town today and figured I'd stop in a local pawn shop. They had this watch for a decent price. I didn't know what it was at first, but did some googling. I can't find any models with a "distressed" dial but the glass is clean and the movement looks flawless so its hard to believe its actual water damage. I snagged it because the eta 2824-2 in it. Anyone have any info on if there was actually a distressed style dial?

It looks like just a Sunray style dial that somehow has gotten worn out. Don't know what would cause that. I have a pocket watch that the dial looks similar to that and that it. Crystal is fine. Looks like a good score though. Congrats.

This is what that dial used to look like. Congrats and wear it well man. it looks to me like someone worked on it. The lume pip looks different. Maybe it fell out and was filled in.

Lol, maybe ill see about having the dial cleaned at least. I like the jet. Might see about having the "e durer" removed and just running the jet logo. I know its an off chance, but does anyone have a replacement link screw? One of the knurled ones on my bracelet was replaced with a little brass screw. Im not too upset for less than $200 and ill definitely enjoy it as a solid daily.

Interesting...my 5 min markers on the bezel are backwards. Like they run counter clockwise. I saw this one on another forum...20170419_175929.jpg

I have an old Android Millipede with a bad movement. I'll see if the thumb screws work on the ABYSS.

not PAWN STARS FODDER...I have a " soft spot " for LATE NITE MARIANNA CHASE does CHASE DUHRER on shopping TV...I had that BURN NOTICE watch OH WAS I EXCITED...TRIGGER PULL- usps- bored- flip- give-rinse -wash -repeat

I would luv this model CHERRY

the brand run independently retaining a lot of original DNA GLYCINE ...though battery models have merged gene pools with yellow box catalog

so the addiction- acquisition fetish is a learning curve

that pawn shop man was pretty sharp ...I have not been to a pawn shop in a long while...I guess it is like micro banking... not for the slow witted...and the odds are in the house's favor 'cause the smart ones know the merch-

welcome to wit... it's been so long since I watched wee small hours shopping TV with smoke that is now legal ...this takes me down memory lane..MARIANNA got the grave yard shifts if memory serves me

probably water damage on the dial ...maybe crown left open and it got a dunk or toilet splash bombs away ...contact @sota0003 ...he could probably surf a DETROIT AGATE DIAL RIGHT INTO THAT damaged CD..the bracelet could be polished or plated...

I would let a wit mod that flood damaged wrist clock...the ETA has become a RARE BIRD with the movement restriction a conclusion to the swatch bank consortium formed out of the japanese quartz calamity ... ETA used to be common as rain in APRIL

welcome to wit have fun post often K MAN

I tried the screws from the Android. They are a hair too thick. I wasn't worried about the length I knew they would be longer and wider compared to the CD. The ends are slightly thicker and would not screw in without damaging the threads in the CD tubes.

These are the measurements from the CD tubes and parts.

thread diameter 0.88mm
screw head thickness 1.42mm
screw head length including threads 4.24mm
tube diameter 1.30mm
tube length with head attached on one side 21.54mm
tube length with both heads attached 23.00mm

These were what I would consider using, but you need to find thinner/smaller diameters. The thickness on these are for larger holes. The reason I say these would be a good option is one head end is friction and the tubes can be cut down in length.

These band tube, pins, screw and friction head band pins are can be used on many different watches, including extra large watch cases.

Can be used in a variety of ways: The standard, strongest way which is to have the pin inside the tube and the friction head and threaded head on each side. Another option is to just use the tube and heads. Finally, the heads can be used as replacements for lost heads.

The tube is smooth on one end to be easily cut to fit many different lengths and this is the end that the friction head fits onto and the other is threaded to hold the threaded head. The solid pin fits inside the tube for added strength and no crimping.

  • Made of Stainless steel
  • Pin set is sold individually, in a set of 4 pieces: tube, pin, friction head and threaded head
  • Made to be easily cut to the length you need - Note: Cut the friction fit end NOT the threaded end.
  • The tube is friction fit on one end and threaded on the other end
  • To order the size you need: Use the tube diameter and head diameter
  • To use just the heads: Use the head and thread diameter
