I didn't give his review much weight the first time I read it, nor this time. He got a review sample. Who knows what that's been through or what it even is. Prototype maybe. There isn't the weak stem he encountered on mine. He looked on their website and saw they are selling with the 2000 movement in them. Opened up his and went off the deep end because it had a 1000 in it. They sold with the 1000 in them before coming out with the 2000. Again, his was a sent free review sample. So no reason to assume it was a brand spanking new updated current model. There are critics but mostly about where they are made. Those critics don't know where most of their other watches are made either. Yema created their own mess by thinking advertising "in house designed" movement was a selling point. It just brought out the "were is it made" crowd. I read their press as written and didn't try to insert what wasn't their between the lines. The movement may very well turn out to be badly designed or flawed, time will tell. I have 4 including this one with the 2000 movement in it and love all of mine. 3 have this movement and none have given me any problems. Yet. Fingers crossed. Pricing? $750 is more than I would pay. And didn't. Can't think of many I've paid retail for. They sell their watches like just about everyone, at discounts. I paid $444 for this one. It's a brand I will probable buy more of. Don't know if I will get the micro rotor, probably not, already have that model with the 2000 in it. Can't see them not asking a premium for a new movement whether it's worth it or not. Lot of words to say I like mine. But like all brands, not for everyone.
I don't think there is a "where it was made crowd" that questions this kind of stuff. Folks just like to hear the truth. In that regard I give props to Baltic for not trying to fudge the facts.
Belmont did the same thing with the Supersonic claiming it to be an in-house movement when it was a modified La Joux Perret Twin Barrel 8 day Power reserve movement. Zelos used the same movement, but only skeletonized for the Mirage2.

"The
movement looks like it's exactly the same 8 day manual wind
La Joux Perret movement that's in the Arnold & Son Royal Navy watch."
Movement
The Bremont sells its self as being and I carefully quote:
“Modified calibre BE-11M 8-day manual wind movement”
“…the Supersonic Stainless Steel has been hand assembled by our skilled watchmakers at Bremont’s workshop in Henley-on-Thames. The Supersonic contains Bremont’s first-ever manual wind movement…”
Now I have to say when I first read this I thought excellent, Bremont have now actually produced an in house movement and it is manual wind, great. However, that is not what this quote means, it simply means that this is just Bremonts first-ever manual wind watch as everything else they have ever made has been automatic. It is not an in house movement.
So my reading of this was wrong, what did your first reading of it make you think?
Anyway, this movement would appear to be a La Joux-Perret of some sort, though happy to be corrected with La Joux-Perret being part of the Citizen Watch Group.
The CW, however, is definitively an in-house movement, at only 5 days rather than 8-day power reserve it is not matched in that department to the Bremont. However, at the moment the value of in-house movements trumps that of bought in modified ones so until everyone wakes up and realises this may be a false economy in a generations time I give this round to the Christopher Ward.
Price.
These are both expensive watches, make no mistake of that but at nearly 3 times the price, the Bremont simply is trying to bat in a league that I just don’t think it is in yet. Yes i am sure both brands will completely sell out of all stock and as a result Bremonts per watch return will probably make more money than CW, but as the owner of a Bremont limited edition myself which cost me new half of what this limited edition is going for it has put me right off trying to step up to this piece.
So this round goes emphatically to CW.
