what's old is new and gender on a bender-

+1 buzzard

Buzzard! Very interesting read...thanks for posting. So, in the end, manufacturers can just continue making the size variety that they do now, and the change is just in which gender buys what. I say, just buy what you like because who wants to keep up with all of this hoopla?

true 'nuff buy what u like... but the point also is that " what you like " changes like fashion... some planned obsolescence by manufacturers to stimulate demand... and some just the whims of fickle fashion and desire for strange-

trending: less is more

Some here were just learning how to tell time in the 70's! Lol

By the way...I am wearing a old 43mm Speedway II in your honor today! Not bad, Joel....not bad at all.

I'm guessing a bunch weren't even born yet...

I've always had the desire for strange... :wow:

Honestly? If I saw a man wear a classic vintage, hell yeah. If I saw a man wear an overly large watch??????, hell no. Just being honest, as a normal woman.

Now if I was a man on man guy, then he'll yeah, your watch size does matter, that's how I know you are gay. As a woman, that is a sign.

What if the overly size watch is on a man that the watch fits like "The Rock" stepping out of a hummer?

In 1985 I wore jeans and T-shirts and rode a UJM or Universal Japanese Motorcycle. Kept my hair short, my face shaved, cheap tennis shoes on my feet. I liked cake. I listened to hair bands.
In 1990 I wore jeans and T-shirts and rode a UJM. Kept my hair short, my face shaved, cheap tennis shoes on my feet. I liked cake. I listened to hair bands.
In 2000 I wore jeans and T-shirts and rode a UJM. Kept my hair short, my face shaved, cheap tennis shoes on my feet. I liked cake. I listened to hair bands.
It's 2016. I wear jeans and T-shirts and ride a UJM. Keep my hair short, my face shaved, age has demanded more from my foot wear so I had to upgrade to a higher quality shoe. And I still like cake and listen to hair bands.
I've never followed a trend, I've never fit in to whatever the flavor of the day was. If I happen to align with whatever the style was that day then the style come to meet me, not the other way around, and it was pure coincidence.
I care not for what the trend of the day is but rather do what I like and would rather avoid what everyone else is doing. My smaller watches were acquired when larger watches were rare and my income was extremely limited. Today I've fallen into what I feel is a large range of preferred sizes that I'll wear from the rare 40mm up to 53mm (simply because original Sea Bases are that size) but my real sweet spot is 47-48mm. The "trend" can go where ever it likes, as long as they continue to build these sizes I'll continue to buy and wear them.
I learned years ago to never say never but I see me going the way of Mike and not wearing a watch at all before I'll wear something forty or below on a daily basis.

HK, you summed it up perfectly. I don't have to keep my face shaved (thank God), but my hair's mostly always been short, I've had a couple of Honda bikes and I've always bought pricier kicks for my feet. However, most days I do wear jeans and an approx. 47mm watch. Same range of 40-52, with the same sweet spot of 47-48mm. I have a bunch of 40-44, the lower end of which I do not find myself wearing anymore. I like ice cream (well, and cake) and listen to a lot of obscure 80's music from my high school/college days. I was listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees in junior high and was the only one in my entire small rural school to do so. Didn't care then to be outside the norm (everyone else was dedicated to Bruce Springsteen and not Depeche Mode) and don't care now either. If watches go smaller, I won't be joining the trend. I'd rather go without. Well said, sir! Mmmmm, where's some cake now? Is there a cake forum?
