Introducing Zodiac's first ever Skeleton Movement in the Zuper Sea Wolf Skeleton!
Ref. ZO9298

For 140 years, Zodiac has dedicated itself to the precision and craftsmanship associated with Swiss timekeeping. In that time, they’ve challenged boundaries, pushed the limits of design, and innovated to create highly technical, dynamic timepieces, all while staying true to they're rebellious spirit and heritage. Never has their passion for
innovation and breaking the norms been more evident than with their newest iteration of the Super Sea Wolf Compression – Skeleton.

Featuring Zodiac’s all-new Swiss-made STP 6-15 skeletonized automatic movement, the Super Sea Wolf Skeleton 6-15 is a bold evolution of the Super Sea Wolf platform.

The Skeleton’s exhibition caseback and dial allow for the mechanics of the new 6-15 to be visible from both the front and back of the watch. This limited-run timepiece also features striking silver and yellow hands and markers with Super-LumiNova for unparalleled visibility and is complemented by Zodiac’s classic 5-link stainless steel Jubilee bracelet.

Rounding out the design is the Super Chroma K1 crystal bezel, which adds a dramatic, colorful ombre effect to the already iconic timepiece. “Color has always been a pillar of the Zodiac design,” notes Zodiac creative director, Ryan White. “The Super Chroma bezel was our most daring use of color to date and a nod to our rebellious roots.”

Like all timepieces in the Super Sea Wolf collection, this new iteration channels much of the same utility that went into the original Sea Wolf 1953 design but with the modern, innovative style that Zodiac is known for. With water resistance up to 200 meters, the durable steel case is designed to perform for the modern-day maverick.

I like the bezel... I mean its out there and not for everyone but in general that's what the SSW compressor is about. Variety, visual variety and not being shy.

But I don't like it with the skelly dial. All silver dial or all white and that bezel would look all that much better. oh well.

A few more drops from Zodiac - today we've got the lovely Sea Chron, retro automatic Swiss chronograph, and the limited edition, highly anticipated skeleton model with the Rainbow bezel. Certainly a polarizing item, but one you have to check out!

the key word here is micro brand. Its a totally different corporate structure. Zelos and other micros better offer more value.

I understand the thought process by being a corporation backed brand, but all are not created equally. Just like all micro-brands are not. There is a vast soup to nuts chasm from one to the other when it comes to bang for buck including customer service.

I agree 100%
Just don’t think comparing the structure of a micro brand and a major conglomerate is the fairest assessment.

This week I purchased my first Zelos and Zodiac watches. Actually, I bought THREE Zelos; the new Malachite Timekeepers Edition, the Mako Frost, and the Mako Antique Green. The Zodiac was a new drop purchased on its release day and more than twice the price of the most expensive Zelos. The difference in quality is shocking.

Each Zelos came in a quality box, was covered in clear protective stickers, and was tucked in its proper space. The Zodiac also was sent in a new box; however, the box was similar to an Invicta quality. And although there was a plastic sticker on the crystal, the watch was simply slipped into a plastic sleeve and lying in the box. It wasn't wrapped around the cushion at all. Granted, this says nothing about the watch's quality, but it does show a level of carelessness or indifference by the Zodiac team. If they don't care about the customer's first impression, how much do they care about the actual product?

The movements used in the watches are also quite different. The Zelos operate as expected. The crown seats properly, each stop on the crown feels solid, and the mechanics feel crisp when setting the time. On the other hand, the Zodiac feels like an inexpensive Chinese movement. The crown's teeth barely grab the threads, and there is no stop once it is unscrewed. This means you are setting the date as soon as it is loose! It is tricky to screw the crown back down without messing up the date. The only positive stop, for the time, does not feel very crisp or precise. The movement itself feels very tin-like when setting the time or date.

Overall, Zelos beats any other microbrand I own (Spinnaker, etc.) and could give the more prominent companies a run for their money if its release quantities were higher. On the other hand, Zodiac feels closer to a stereotypical Fossil and feels on par with Pagani Design.
You don't always get what you pay for.
