First post today. I presently have a collection of around 40 watches. I am what many would class as an affordable watch collector, albeit my watches have got more expensive over the years. I have a reasonable knowledge of what constitutes a good watch and believe a timepiece is like everything else, the sum of it's parts. I have mechanical watches, quartz watches, diver watches, sports watches, and dress watches. In short, I like what I like. Most importantly, I am strong believer that watch doesn't have to be made in a specific country, or have specific name on the dial to be any good.

Hello, Wiggles, and welcome to WIT, a place I am very fond of referring to as "safe [and] well-lighted," where opinions are respected, irrespective of brand, origin and cost of each watch. For what my rodential opine is worth, you've genuinely come to THE right place to (1) enjoy this obsession-disguised-as-a-hobby, (2) learn from other members of the forum, and (3) share what you know with the rest of us. Unfortunately, there are watch sites out there that are comparable with mental hospitals from the early 20th Century. The individuals that make up these sites are absolutely convinced that only THEY are correct about what constitutes good and bad in their limited view of the Horological world. I've even managed to pick up a stalker along the way, and sometimes the laughs are well worth the price of admission.

Now my point in bringing all of THAT up is to reiterate the kind of site you've just joined. There are no personal agendas ~ or vendettas ~ here. Just a lot of mutual support [that some might call being a bad influence , or an enabler ] and a lot of fun. We don't engage in personal attacks here, and not one of our Moderators has an agenda, other than ensuring that we have a good time during our visits here. SoooooOOOOOOOOoooooo, if you're not scared by all of that, then I haven't been doing my job here, dangit-to-H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks!! (Just kidding!) Welcome to WIT, Wiggles! (And it's awesome to see that someone has a forum name as goofy as mine own...!)

Not long ago I got banned from a certain watch site, and the reason was "not a good fit". The watches I wanted to discuss were all under £1000, and I don't think the other members knew there was such a thing

welcome aboard. look forward to interacting and learning more about your collection. As you adeptly point out there are great ways to enjoy this hobby for a few bucks and for a few hundred grand and everywhere in between. Hell I know dedicated "collectors" who don't even currently own a watch. they wait until they find something perfect and live with it for as long as then can....

anyhow, enjoy your time here and tell me, which of the Wiggles are you? Yellow? Red? Purple? Blue? hahhaha
