We’re proud to unveil three new watches, the Limited Edition Bremont Project Possible, the ALT1-C Griffon and the ALT1-P2 JET. Combining the highest levels of engineering and precision with some pioneering individuals who have inspired and tested these watches, we hope you enjoy learning more about them.
This is a very uncertain time for everyone, the world over. At Bremont we remain utterly committed to making beautiful watches here on British soil, in Henley-on-Thames. Like so many of you out there, we are all trying to keep our heads high. We are so lucky, and immensely proud, to have an incredible, passionate and dedicated workforce. Whilst we are asking those who can to work from home, our watchmaking workshops and boutiques are still operating and we are of course taking every precaution to keep our staff as safe as possible.

If you are stuck at home and/or caring for loved ones, we send our love to you all. We thought we would try and bring a little brightness to your day with a few of our 2020 new releases that can be seen by appointment in certain Bremont boutiques.

Please look after yourselves and others out there. As Winston Churchill said,
“It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.”

Limited to only 300 pieces, the ‘Bremont Project Possible’ timepiece commemorates the ultimate mountaineering feat. Bremont Ambassador Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja MBE firmly took his place in mountaineering history when he summited Earth’s 14 tallest mountains in less than 7 months. The new GMT watch is built from titanium and bronze, the timepiece boasts a dark blue dial with bronze bezel and ceramic blue insert, teamed with bronze hands. Turning the watch over reveals an open case back through which the rotor can be seen which details the heights of each of the 14 mountains, and in the order that Nims summitted them. Even with the sapphire case back it is still water resistant to 500 meters and although built in limited numbers it’s strength as a mountaineering watch has not been diminished.

THE ALT1-C GRIFFON
mail
Introducing the ALT1-C Griffon, a new classic paying tribute to the Spitfire that Bremont Co-Founders Nick and Giles English’s father operated. A fusion of sublime craftsmanship with the very best of technical innovation, precision and durability, the Griffon is a firm new favourite within this family of watches. Whilst the Griffon retains the core DNA from the original ALT1-C Cream, it has an updated dial and hands and the detail on this new model harks back to some early chronometer designs with more of a ‘military instrument’ feel to it.

Bremont is steeped in aeronautical heritage by virtue of the English brothers who grew up in and around aviation, who both became pilots themselves and were subsequently supported through university by the RAF. With this passion for flying, aircraft and all things mechanical running deep, Bremont has always specialised in pilots’ watches. The original ALT1-C was in fact the first Bremont timepiece that the brothers ever designed and has been a bestseller for the brand since its debut back in 2007, it has become the staple pilot’s watch within the brand’s stable.

Based on the original ALT1-P pilot’s watch, the definitive aviation chronograph, the ALT1-P2 JET boasts a hardened DLC case with black dial, combined with Bremont’s iconic ’51 lume’. Passionate about celebrating British engineering and innovation, and as part of the testing cycle, Bremont has teamed up with veritable aviation pioneers Gravity Industries to put the new watch through its paces. This is the first DLC-coated case in this line and turning the watch over reveals a smoked crystal exhibition case back with black rotor continuing the stealthy aesthetic. The ALT1-P2 JET takes a classic pilot’s watch into a new age of aviation.

Bremont Watch Company

2019 saw one man achieve the impossible. It is unlikely in this lifetime that anyone will complete something of
the magnitude that Bremont Ambassador Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja MBE accomplished in just 6 months and 6 days.
Nims firmly took his place in mountaineering history when he completed Bremont Project Possible, a challenge to
summit Earth’s 14 tallest mountains, all higher than 8,000m, in less than 7 months.

To celebrate this remarkable feat and the ultimate mountaineering goal, Bremont is releasing the Limited Edition
Bremont Project Possible. Limited to only 300 pieces, the GMT diver is based on Bremont’s celebrated Supermarine
500. Built from titanium and bronze, the timepiece boasts a dark blue dial with bronze bezel and ceramic blue
insert, teamed with bronze hands.

Bremont Expands ALT1 Line With New ALT1-C Griffon And ALT1-P2 JET Models

British marque Bremont has taken design inspiration from a wide variety of sources over the years, ranging from classic Jaguar racing prototypes to the British military, but the core of the brand’s ethos has always been aviation. The ALT1 line of chronographs has long been one of the clearest and best examples of Bremont’s aviation-flavored style, and with two new announcements for 2020 the series extends its pool of flying inspirations to include the final Mark XIX model of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire fighter plane, as well as the cutting-edge world of jet-powered wingsuit flight. Both new models, the ALT1-C Griffon and the ALT1-P2 JET, reinterpret the ALT1’s classic sports chronograph formula in dramatically different ways.

The ALT1-C Griffon is powered by a modified in-house Caliber BE-50AE automatic movement. Beyond impressive technical specs, including COSC chronometer rating, a Nivaflex 1 mainspring, and a balance spring made of advanced Anachron coupled to a Gluycdur balance, the view of the movement through the sapphire caseback is a handsome one (although the intricate cutout pattern on the custom rotor is of radial engine parts, while the namesake Rolls-Royce Griffon was a V12, but that’s nitpicking). Power reserve sits at 42 hours.

Bremont offers the ALT1-C Griffon on a choice of either a vintage-look brown leather strap or an oyster style three-link bracelet. While the bracelet is nice, the warm aged cast of the dial really comes alive when paired with leather. The Bremont ALT1-C Griffon is available now from authorized dealers at a starting MSRP of $6,695.

of all of these the Alt1 P2 was my favorite in person. Has a very substantial feel to it. The crystal in the back was so dark it was like looking through smokey quartz. Novel idea, looked cool. The COlorway is very similar to my Breitling Avenger Blackbird with the all black case and dial and the vintage markers which would probably keep me away.

Bremont has an interesting pricing strategy in that their chronos (all their watches are chronometer certified they say) which is to say their eta based chronographs are not much more and sometimes less expensive than their GMTs or 3 hand models. They really seem to price their models more on exclusivity than technology. Pretty much every chrono in the shop hovered around $5k-6k which is no cheap but in the luxury market its not too bad for a swiss auto (of course they can't claim and don't want to claim "swiss made".) Meanwhile the 3 hand models are roughly the same.

But the limited models are much more. I want to say the Nims model was projected at $7k+ (they couldn't tell me for sure) their Hercules models which feature a piece of an actual aircraft are $12k+ for a 3 hander.

2019 saw one man achieve the impossible. It is unlikely in this lifetime that anyone will complete something of the magnitude that Bremont Ambassador Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja MBE accomplished in just 6 months and 6 days. Nims firmly took his place in mountaineering history when he completed Bremont Project Possible, a challenge to summit Earth’s 14 tallest mountains, all higher than 8,000m, in less than 7 months. Smashing the previous record of nearly 8 years and breaking a further 6 world records in the process, it’s arguably a record unlikely to be broken. The 14 mountains all enter the ‘death zone’ at that altitude, so-called because human life cannot exist there. Unphased by the enormity of the challenge, Nims never contemplated failure.

To celebrate this remarkable feat and the ultimate mountaineering goal, Bremont is releasing the Limited Edition Bremont Project Possible. Limited to only 300 pieces, the GMT diver is based on Bremont’s celebrated Supermarine 500. Find out more at www.bremont.com

Bremont releases a new classic in the form of the ALT1-C Griffon, paying tribute to the Spitfire that brand Co-Founders Nick and Giles English’s father operated and is now owned by Rolls-Royce. The PR Mk XIX was the last of the specialised photo reconnaissance variants of the Spitfire, one of the few with a Griffon engine and arguably the finest of them all.
