Will the bottle cap become another Seiko classic?

Bottlecap wait time is two hours, eta 1:30 central.

When I think of Seiko as a brand/company they have history + large scale manufacturing expertise. Having in house movements to use for their own brand as well as supplying microbrands. I have never owned a Seiko that failed nor had misaligned chapter rings. (though I have read about others having that problem) I have had Hamiltons with eta s that failed.

So we need to identify and clarify what we mean by the term "classic" ie

A watch that stands the test of time - example the Rolex sub

A watch that people desire, talk about, and want to own. example sumo/blumo, skx...

A watch that holds its' resale value and is an easy sell. examples as above.

What other criteria makes a watch a "classic"

Arrived today took off the stock bracelet to make sure all is well running before sizing it. The watch itself seems high quality and certainly a unique case shape with nice finish.

I will be making a time lapse lume video against my Junkers Iron annie.

Perhaps I should rephrase the question to Will the bottlecap become a collectors' item?

Made this lume video...

time check

Very happy as time check today was +7 seconds, so very easy to sync by hacking and waiting. Perfect!

Congrats on a cool Seiko. I have been a fan since I got my 1st in Nam in '69. I've never had a problem with one. As has been said, not always the best of materials, clasps, crystals, bezel alignment, etc. But great designs in an attractive package, and prices for every income level. I know you'll be happy with yours, and I wouldn't mind having one myself.

The thread is about whether or not this will be a classic not how cheap it can be bought.

You're right. But we're not that rigidly structured here. Many times, the status of a watch is linked to it's cost. And no one does a better job finding the best costs than Lee. After you've been around a while, you'll find that a particular thread may provide an opportunity for another subject to be included. Most of us don't mind that, as it provides another opportunity to learn more. It's not like the subject was shifted from classic watches to muscle car exhaust systems.

Thanks I did discover a problem after wearing the bottlecap........ I now want a Monster szsc005 or 003!

I understand so forgive me my newnesss should wear off shortly and perhaps Lee will come up with the Monster deal I am looking for now. 005 or 003 I have not yet made up my mind.

I could see it possibly becoming a cult classic. I have plenty of closet classics myself that others may not feel the same way about.

Yesterday at first I was not happy with the stiff bezel action but today after wearing the watch all day yesterday and in the shower this morning the bezel action is much better, very nice in fact and the watch running at +4 spd are winning me over.
