Yet Another Diver Arrives from HK (Been on a Binge ;) )

that's a gr8 bargain-

please post if it is fully functional... well finished or PITA

62Mas...have fingered & carted it myself.... ali baba & the 40 tools

It's well finished. This one is a later production run of the 1st Version that incorporated some changes compared to the original production run(s). Bezel has ceramic insert, with 120 clicks, smooth with positive detents, and doesn't have much lash. It's aligned properly as is the chapter ring inside, and the date wheel with the dial window. Has drilled lugs. Quite well made overall. Screw down crown has a "new" feel to it when screwing it down (new thread feel). That will get smoother with time as it has with others. Sapphire crystal is domed in the same shape as vintage, a nice surprise and feature. An SII NH35 is an SII NH35. Not much to say there. I'm more than impressed for the price! Ensure you get a later production run with drilled lugs and 120 click bezel. Original production run(s) of 1st Version have a 90 click bezel and don't have drilled lugs; some are still floating around among various sellers. Stock bracelet (an option) has a machined z-fold two-pushbutton clasp with safety catch. It's impressive although doing micro-adjustments is not quite as easy as with stamped ones that can flex a bit. This one doesn't flex one iota.

The one PITA with the bracelet is the link pins. They use a pin and tube that have a crimp in the middle. Not the first time I've dealt with this type of link pin (Rado and some Bulova come to mind). Unlike others, though, it took some real effort to drive the pin out. Used a homemade drift fabricated from a very large safety pin with its sharp tip well blunted. My normal watch pin drifts that work with the common cotter pins were too big in diameter to fit into the tube to drive the pin through. I have a bracelet holder that allows using drifts with a jeweler's hammer (one side of head metal, the other hard nylon). Do NOT lose the tube that can fall out of the center link when you pull it apart! I always work over a very short nap microfiber towel that keeps stuff like pins and tubs from rolling away to the same place as missing dryer socks. Beats hunting around a floor with a magnet for an hour trying to find it. Driving them back in was also more effort than others of this type, although the pins went back it a bit easier than they came out. Had to resize it again as the first sizing took out too many links. Drifting the pins the second time around was a little easier than the first. The pin tool with jack screw won't work on the San Martin bracelet. You will need to drift the pins out using a drift and jeweler's hammer. The bracelet otherwise is impressive.

There is now a 2nd Version (apart from the bezel and drilled lugs changes) that doesn't offer the original 62MAS charcoal sunburst dial . . . just black, green or blue dials. If you want one that is truest to the original 62MAS-010, the 1st Version offers the charcoal sunburst dial. WR Watches is selling the 1st Version with drilled lugs and 120 click bezel. With other sellers, you may need to ask if they don't give this information in their description. Found mine on ePrey and the description specifically stated information about the bezel and lugs.

Congratulations on your new watch - great looking piece - enjoy it!

I've used these on bracelets that have wider width links, but the diameter of the hole is tight and something thin and sturdy is needed. I never bothered to worry about the points on the end. I'll just usually use tape on the tip or tool I'm working with. I used a paper clip in the photo for size comparison. I always use something a little smaller than the hole so they do not cut into the steel making the holes too large.

Clock work sized broaches for holes, very useful set to own. Comes with 10 broaches in sizes approx 0.30 mm - 3mm. They are stored in included plastic tube container oiled to prevent rust.
