What are the negatives of a ghost date ? Is it that big a deal ?
you need to ' move through a dead position on the way from full insert of crown to withdraw 2 positions to set tyme middle position a dummy but can move date wheel obscured by dial ...

well i had a MARATAC by COUNTY COM sterile field ti tool...it had no date window...but it had the NH35 instead of the NH38

then i learned on the GHOST BUSTERS horo trivia PROFESSOR ROAD WARRIOR at the lectern...

then because i am a crazy watch addict ...I COULD NOT LIVE WITH THE GHOST POSITION voices arising from same place as urgent whispers screaming MUST HAVE BUY NOW ...SERENTIY NOW...

and gave away to daughter because i could " no longer live with a ghost in my box " ... well the years and the JIM BEAM roll on....

after a couple years and couple thousand bowls ....it does not bother me much any more... i got it back in unscratched condition...and loving it OLD IS NEW TO ME AGAIN

BUT ... i was gonna get the HELSON BP50F NEW VINTAGE a few days ago ...NO DATE...but it has the NH35 ghost position ...

even with the coupon... still big money if it had NH38 i would be working on the PP CHAIN GANG 6 MONTH HARD PAYMENTS right now...

so is it a " big deal " ... I gotta ask advice from that guy in TIMES SQUARE with the sign " THE END IS NEAR "

so only if you are a crazy watch addict know -it-all...know- too-much... know no nothing

so like a lot of things ...it is a state of mind... NH38 ENGINE BLANK superior marriage to no date dial ... technically with my fat-dumb fingers...there is greater chance i can damage stem with brute force on an NH35 NO DATE...it is like going through gears on a car for no reason...unnecessary wear & tear " under engineered " ...increased chance of damage for no reason other than the wrong engine is used...

NH35 ENGINES are bought cheaper in bulk...so the manufacturers think they can get a way with it

NH38 have to be ordered separate might cost a little move depending on supply chain interruptus ...and i have read DATE WATCH OUTSELLS NO DATE WATCH 3/1

so some manufactures do not want to be bothered...evidently HELSON and others too numerous to name

wits please post thoughts on GHOST BUSTERS

so in response to your question EZEEO...definitely " YES and NO " LOL

Personally, not the worst thing on the planet. It could though damage the movement in tyme if one does not know what they are doing. For instance, when somebody might be changing the tyme at the restricted hours of a date change, I believe 9pm-4am and the date function is engaged then that could damage the movement. I have a few ghost date watches but much prefer the actual correct movement. It is not too much more cost wise to have the correct one installed from the get go. I would rather pay the few dollars more for that option. JMO.

Why have a clutch in the car if it's an automatic? No reason to have to shift. :dunno:

The date disc is covered and the date changing mechanics are disconnected. Marc from Island watch has explained that numerous times on his stuff. That doesn't necessarily mean all brands do it. If the mechanics are still there you should be able to feel the date change/click. If it is smooth and just a "ghost" pull position no harm can be done to the movement.

The redesigned Matador demands attention in this 42mm stainless steel case with a texture edged unidirectional rotating bezel hosting a diver's scale with micro engraving numerals rest on top of 15, 30 & 45 minute. A screw down crown ensures water resistance to 200m/660ft. This watch features with a reliable Japanese 24-jewel SII NH35 automatic movement. Admire the precise automatic movement on display through the exhibition case back. The perfect complement is the high brushed stainless steel linked bracelet with the superb two-button glide lock clasp and make it easy to adjust to sit perfectly on your wrist.

I had a couple of these at one time. Wound up getting rid of them chasing whatever it was I was chasing at the time. Not a bad watch, but the lume on the bezel was pretty much nonexistent. At the 12 on the bezel was ok, but 3, 6, and 9 disappeared quickly. 20210728_151119.jpg20210728_155102.jpg20210728_154404.jpg
