The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is a full-fledged rival to the Patek Philippe Nautilus and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Compared to its two famous luxury watch rivals, the Overseas Self Winding is packed with innovations that improve its fit, value, and durability (4500V/110A-B128). This is a 41mm steel sports watch that represents best-in-class quality and features even at its preowned price of up to $38,000.

Launched in 1996, the original Vacheron Constantin Overseas drew from the design of the company's own 1977 reference 222 sports watch. A third-generation Overseas watch collection debuted in 2016, and that was the first time Vacheron's sports watch truly equalled the pedigree of its primary competition from Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. The Overseas Self Winding in today's episode incorporates features never before offered on an Overseas; a manufacture movement; Geneva hallmark status; a display caseback. Moreover, with a retail price of $22,500 as of 2022, the latest generation of the Overseas automatic is priced competitively.

The Overseas automatic is packed with impressive details. A manufacture caliber 5100 automatic movement includes a 60-hour power reserve, and its poincon de Geneve finish sits on display beneath a sapphire caseback. Despite the absence of a soft-iron cage, the movement is protected from magnetic fields of up to 25,000 a/m by a paramagnetic ring that site unseen beyond the edge of the display window. Each Overseas 4500v includes a screw-down crown and a water resistance rating of 150 meters. Among competing luxury watch models, only the hulking Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver has a deeper water resistance rating.

Vacheron Constantin designed the Overseas' bracelet to be second-to-none in quality. Finish of the steel links and clasp is as good as anything built by other holy trinity watch brands, the independent watch brands, and A. Lange & Sohne. Each Overseas bracelet includes a quick-release tab that permits rapid swapping between the bracelets and the two accessory straps (rubber and leather) that are included with each stainless steel model. All of the links of an Overseas bracelet are removable, and this guarantees precise sizing for any wrist. Moreover, each side of the deployant clasp includes a micro-adjustment feature for fine tuning the fit of the watch.

Today's featured watch is the blue dial version of the Overseas Self Winding. Its glossy blue dial base is the products of a polished metal dial that has been evenly coated with several layers of translucent blue lacquer. All of the hands, hour indices, and the Vacheron Constantin logo are fashioned from 18-karat white gold.
