When Maen contacted me to have a close look at their new offering, the Manhattan 37, I was instantly drawn back to the 70's and era that was close to my own heart. I share my thoughts on this watch and time period..

Côtes de Genève Dial​

The Manhattan 37 has an unique vertically elongated Côtes de Genève dial that creates a spectrum of beautiful shimmers depending on the lighting.

There are four different dial colors available: Midnight Blue, Ice Grey, Anthracite Black and Copper / Salmon.

Case and Finish​

The Manhattan 37 is a modern re-interpretation of landmark timepieces from the 1970’s. It was important to us to give the Manhattan 37 its own identity and we believe that we have succeeded with that.

With its steel case, vertically elongated octagonal bezel, Côtes de Genève dial and integrated bracelet, the Manhattan 37 packs a lot of punch. Due to the integrated design the watch wears larger than its modest 37 mm would suggest.

The combination of polished and satin-brushed finishes highlight the unique shape of the case and bracelet.

Integrated Bracelet​

The Manhattan has an integrated stainless steel bracelet with hidden deployant clasp. The bracelet is connected to the case by means of four screws into the caseback. This small detail adds to the vintage character of the watch.

We did not cut any corners with the bracelet and have a very gradual taper on the bracelet with many individual sized links. The bracelet has a satin brushed finish with polished chamfers on the side and matches the case beautifully.

The choice of this movement allows for both a seamless fit and an intimate connection between the watch and its owner. Displayed through an open sapphire caseback, the blued screws and precise Côtes de Genève finishing tie precision and beauty together into one ultra-thin package.

Maen Manhattan 39 Ultra Thin and Skymaster 38 Mark III​

Two best sellers from Maen have been refined and upgraded. Both have fully decorated handwind calibers. Today I feature the Manhattan 39 Ultra Thin, and the Skymaster 38 Mark III. Considering the level of movement, finish, detail, and fit compared to the retail price- I think this is one of the better microbrands out there.
