The Zelos Titanium Mako V3 "Antique Green" Hands-On Review (The Best Mako Yet!)
Jul 29, 2021
Design Atelier
It is that time once again for another zelos release. A much anticipated event that many microbrand fans follow more closely than ants to freshly baked creme brûlée. Sweet things spoken for, there’s a green watch on our table today and a review to kick off. Here’s why this delicious titanium mako is just too savory a deal to pass up.
Introducing the V3 edition of the Mako. The 'Whirlpool' Guilloche dial is a sight to behold, with a texture that dances with the light. The dial has also been designed for better legibility, with larger indices for even brighter lume. Case thickness has also been reduced for the Mako V3, to a svelte 11.5mm without the thick domed crystal. This is achieved through the use of the thinner Miyota 9015 which also offers an even lower price point and amazing timekeeping.
The Mako Shark: the fastest shark in the world. Smaller and streamlined, it was an ideal image for our latest diver's watch compared to our previous 'Hammerhead' model.
Featuring design cues from the 60s, constructed with modern technology, the Mako Diver is a capable diver's timepiece. The sapphire crystal has a 'box' shape similar to the acrylic crystals of old, without the scratches common with acrylic. A ceramic bezel offers extreme hardness against all the abuse you could throw at it. The watch also features 300m of water resistance to survive any depth you could take it down to.
At 40mm in diameter, the watch does not look out of place on a dressier outfit. A short 46mm lug to lug length also ensures a good fit even on smaller wrists.
