Introducing the Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403. A new chapter in the story of an icon begins.

Introduced in 1938, the Big Crown Pointer Date has been in constant production for more than 80 years. The original had two distinctive features – an oversized crown so the watch could be operated by gloved airmen, and a central hand that pointed to a date scale around the edge of the dial. The form has become Oris’s signature design, a Swiss watchmaking icon, and a byword for beautiful, functional, timeless watchmaking.

A very cool, standard size, automatic, three hand, with date pointer, from Oris. Handsome, and versatile. Thanks Mike.

nice looking watch but I prefer the 40mm models not just for size (a little small even at 40mm in my opinion but a large dial opening helps) but I also prefer the dial colors and layouts of the larger model.

all in all still a good looking timepiece.

The legend lives on​ The Big Crown has been in the Oris collection for 85 years Introduced in 1938 and created for pilots, it had an oversized crown, large-scale Arabic numerals and broad hands. The idea was simple: it had to be legible and adjustable by a gloved airman in mid-flight. The aesthetic has proved completely ageless. Today, the classic is the 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date.
