Nice to see all the gracious, welcoming responses to a newbie. Thanks. As for furthering the watch content discussed...….yeah the Accutron Swiss line was a bargain hunters delight. I was sorry to see it go. I bought many and wish I'd bought more. As a watch collector, I operate mostly at the mid tier level. For me, the Accutron attraction began with the 2000-2009 Gemini line. An aesthetically pleasing blend of classic 40's styling with modern textured dial elements tastefully mixed in. With the old reliable (and easily serviceable) 7750 movement and a fit and finish that would rival any of the respected segment of the Swiss watch producing mid tier watches, it should of been a real winner for any chrono fan. And yet there it was, for all of it's production run seemingly moving only at a deeply discounted price. Some blamed the name. And I'm sure that was part of it. The Accutron brand had been at the forefront of the move away from mechanical movements and now, it was Bulova's new higher end, swiss movement watch brand? The Accutron ii branding of the new UHF movements was a great idea. Although many disagreed, I also liked the Accu Swiss rebadging of the Swiss line. And they really gave it a nice effort with some exciting and original new models-- Tellaro, Murren, and Telc. Yet, in a saturated market, the same problems plagued them. Very few buyers unless it came with the discounted prices. I've heard the theory that the brand was eliminated when parent company Citizen purchased the similarly positioned Frederique Constant. I have my doubts on that. All the big watch conglomerates (something Citizen is clearly aiming towards) continue to operate with numerous brands falling within the same market segments. I think it was more like BK losing the burger wars. Once you blink with the deep product discounting, the public won't allow for increasing the margin back up at a later date. What all this blathering adds up to you ask? I was sure happy to pick up that final piece from Joel to add to what was for me a fun line of watches.
