I have over 80 watches and I want to pair down to 20. How would you go about selling 60 watches?

There are guidelines for posting on WIT in the watches fo sale section here, ...I think.
Might wanna post only a few at a time...that’s a bunch of watches.
Some folks use eBay or other large Sales forums.

^^^^^+1:cheers:^^^^^ Good advice.:hat:

Try to get your items linked somehow to Lionseek or WatchRecon. Many watch forums sometimes can be very sluggish for sales. The more exposure you have, the better the chances to achieve some of your goals. If the watches are "TV" brands, they generally will have poor resale value unless it's something really in demand. Good luck on the sales.

That’s a pretty dramatic undertaking - could take a year unless you sell more than a watch per week. It’s an admirable quest that will take some effort - but you may be happier with the smaller collection. Personally I’m trying to stay at 30 watches - even at that, if every watch on average is worn once per month it’s only seeing wrist time 12 times per year. So any new acquisition, I need to sell one. I am WAYmore selective with my purchases than when I started collecting. As Mike mentioned, using a forum that is picked up on Watchrecon helps, and I’ve found that I could get higher amounts on eBay (even after fees) doing a Buy It Now or Best Offer listings. For some lower end watches, maybe you could bundle several in one listing. Good luck!

Post em on here first. Give your fellow WIT's first shot...winks.

Maybe start by posting a list, perhaps separated by their condition (first group is mint, second group is very good, third has...). Then have some 2-3 pics of each at the ready in a folder on your desktop to send to people who PM for more info.

Just a thought.

I'm currently selling a collection of 50 decks of cards. Got pics in groupings of 6-8, and a 1-line description of each deck under the pic. Anyone wants more info PM's me.

I would LOVE to see your list, so more power to you.

I like this idea, I borrowed a pic from a sale by our fearless leader, WatchSteve.

If your computer has the feature to write on it, take a group pic or a series of group pics, and mark them off as they are sold.
Write SOLD across them or just X them off....
I see a lot of group sales here but to me it's always confusing tho know exactly what is left for sale or available.
Taking a pic & then marking them off will streamline the process IMO & make it easier for all.

Some good information, ideas here by WIT's.

Even without write function you can mark them off, but that is a good idea Lee.

i have had more purges than Stalin over my decade long " career "

-last week sold 50 at COUNTY VINTAGE...got cash in a flash... i don't care,,,i regret nothing

ScottyB,

What is County Vintage?

any brick & mortar place near you where they buy them...because you have so many it adds up no matter what you get...

for me...not to have to tag team PMs...pack...ship...blah blah blah...1 & done o-bla-di o-bla-da bra...la la how the life goes on

Greatest exposure is eBay, but also will cost you. PayPal and Ebay fees = 13%, so divide your goal price by .13 to get the Ebay listing price. Also FYI they take that percentage fee out of your shipping cost as well so make adjustments as needed.
Facebook has both a local and national listing section (never tried I dont have social media).
I just got robbed on craigslist, b!+ch gave me counterfeit bills, plus it's a hassle because you have to make time to meet in a public place, you definitely don't want them coming to your house because if they're bad peeps they may wanna see what other goodies you have in your house when you're not home.
Safest would probably be list them here and sell to well-known members, but you're going to need to have the prices be pretty competitive. I blame Lee for that

speaking plain english..in 10 years I have had about 4 collections I have liquidated...some all in 1 shot 50 at a tyme...some 1 by 1 on the net... my latest and last collection was VINTAGE-RUSSIANS FROM RUSSIA-POCKET WATCHES...so I popped them 1 shot 1 kill at a VINTAGE STORE...like a guy who buys BASEBALL CARDS-SILVER-GOLD- I got good money... It was no hassle... I don't care since the ride was the journey... pulling the trigger 50 tymes is a rush...the money was a hoot( because when you drop it at the tables U get nothing back...) so here i got a pile of johnny flash ( cash ) - no forensic accountant needed-

the hobby is like being born-dying-mounting the throne...we alll do it alone...I did it my way...no regrets... get rid of them...they aint getting any more valuable ...when they start to weigh on you like the MORTGAGE CHAINS ON MR. SCROOGE in A CHRISTMAS CAROL tyme to lighten up..... " zen " means non-attachment...just let go and enjoy the ride- give some away...good for the soul- ride the wave- have a good tyme-

Probably pushing about 35 watches so will go to our son. Will never sell, but if selling, will do what
Mr. B did.
