Seiko, a brand most often associated with affordable dive watches, also has a compelling collection of field watches with roots dating back to 1959 and the Seiko Laurel Alpinist. More recently, Seiko has found success with two of its field watches under the Seiko 5 umbrella, the SNK and SNZG, but collectors often griped about the too small or too large sizing of those two collections. In this video, I'll take a look at Seiko's new SRPG27, a new Seiko 5 with dimensions that neatly split the difference between the aforementioned cult classic field watches from Seiko.

:hmm: SAD, BAD SEIKO SPECS .. for the money and consumer. (Bracelet has a stamped clasp and the two micro-adjustments are virtually useless +hollow end links and Hardlex)

I can think of other in the same price range with sapphire, ceramic bezels, nice bracelets with milled scissor style clasp. Many with the NH35/36/38 and a few with the MIYOTA 9000 series on straps.

RELATIVE TIME

The Seiko Dress KX bracelets will fit the new Seiko 5 Field watches. Just in case anyone is curious. I was getting some shots of the new Seiko 5 field watch (SRPG29 here), and I wondered if it used the same bracelet as the Dress KX line. So I tried my strap code Jubilee on it, and it works. It's not the best fit, and there is a slight wiggle to it, but I think it would be fine.
