Need some help on Seiko's "Monster" bracelet parts

While putting on one of my Seiko Monsters the other day the bracelet came apart. Seems a couple of the "tubes\collars" are missing from their pins. While researching for some replacements I found Esslinger sells some aftermarket equivalents that should fit. (they call them pipes as does Seiko) My problem is that I need to know the exact size in millimeters of the tubes\collars that fit the pins.

Anyone know what the size would be? The pins are 19 mm long and the the tubes\collars\pipes come in three different diameters: .90 mm, .95 mm, and 1.10 mm. Which one would be the correct size? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to Esslinger product page:

I've looked for a few hours Joel. I couldn't find any spares to measure to help with the size. I did send a few feelers out to SCA in Mahwah NJ and a few others for specs, etc. This place below looks like your best bet to source the correct pipe and pins + collar length and diameter. I'll keep looking and if I hear something I will put it here. Best of luck.

If your Seiko watch band spring bars and or pipes and pins is not shown contact us and we will see if it is available. request a quote and we will see if it is available.

This could be a possibility, but best to check with them to be sure.

Mike thanks for posting this I went through all of mine and I couldn’t find a single spare and it’s good to know where I can get a few extras

You're welcome BD. I feel the same way. I think I'll order a few myself if I find the specs. Those pesky little things have a knack of getting away no matter how careful you are.

Marc just got back to me. He actually recommended the same seller, but for the actual individual links that come with the pin & collar.

Hello Mike: https://www.watchbands.com/Products/...49X8JG-LK.aspx

Might as well just get a link; it comes with the pin and collar.

I scoured Seiko’s parts site, and they do not give the PN of the pins/collars.

Thanks,

These are what the pins look like, (they are not straight) they are wide at one end and the collar\pipe goes on the other end. Thanks Mike for your help.

Can you put a picture of the watch up? If I have a version of the watch, I can pull a pin and collar and measure it.

I found my Seiko Monster first generation. I took the bracelet apart and tried my best to measure the parts. I still have it dissected just in case. I hope this helps. If not let me know if you need more measurements Joel. I took the photos with my mobile device so they are not too great. I tried to do it on a paper towel with masking tape in case one tried to make an escape.

In the Esslinger drop down box this is the closest I could see.

Pin is 90mm x 19mm (pin is 2nd from the top in drop down)

pipe/sleeve to fit 90mm thick pin = 1.5mm x 1.15mm (pipe is the first line in the pipe choices)

That 2.97 is throwing things off. :hmm:

Mike thank you so much, this is a great help. I think what I need is a .90 pipe. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

You're welcome and good luck Joel. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I had one link in with the watch I obviously removed to size, but it had no pin or pipe or I would have sent you that one. The only thing I can think of is at the time I sized the Monster I had no clue what I was doing. I had just started this hobby and was only at it for five months back in 2010. I either mangled the pin or lost it. The bracelets obviously are not very large considering I only removed one link and I have an average size wrist.

I think I must have done the same thing when sizing (way back when) as I have a couple collar\pipes missing. The strange thing is I've worn this Monster and it didn't fall apart until the other day, I guess I was lucky. I have 2 others that I need to check out to make sure they were sized correctly and then I'll order from Esslingers. Mike, you have been a great help and I really do appreciate you going the extra mile for me.

It was my pleasure Joel. I just hope they are the right ones you need. I took a shot on some screw and tube pins for my Kalmar 2 8000m from Esslinger and they arrived yesterday. Everything was fine with the length and thickness, but the head was slightly smaller than the ones Clemens supplies. When I tried them the whole thing just slides out through the lug holes by a hair.,

Yeah, aftermarket products can be difficult to exactly match the originals. The pins in the Seiko Monsters are slightly over 18mm but the ones Esslinger sells are 19mm. Luckily the pins that come in the bracelet are actually shorter than the links so the 19mm pins will fit. I ordered from Esslinger and got a shipping notice today. Hopefully these collar\pipes will fit the the original pins... fingers crossed.

I was talking to Seiko Repair USA in Mahwah NJ. They couldn't even find the part number for the pipes and pins for the Monster. I gave them the eight digit code from the case back. They did have the bracelet for about the same price Mark is selling it for. They don't do walk in service, but I can always drop it off and let them see the pins and pick it up later when I'm in the industrial park again.

I received the pipes we talked about from Esslinger and surprisingly they don't work. They fit the pins (.90mm) but the pipes themselves aren't thick enough to to expand and lock into the link. When installed the whole thing (pipe attached to the pin) just slide right through the link. I'm not sure what to do now... I really don't want to buy a new bracelet just to get a few pipes. Frustrating!

Sorry to hear about that Joel. I had a similar thing happen to me with my H20 Kalmar 2 screw bars. I'm still working on a solution for mine. If I find something that fits I'll get some extra and send you a few. I like the setup on the Seiko Sarb better. The pipe goes into the inside of the middle link. The Monster system is a PITA having to put the pipe on the outside link hole. It's like a balancing act to get the right position so it stays in while you push the pin though the other side.

Thanks Mike.

I wondering if these pipes will fit the pins and links of the "Monster" bracelet and are possibly easier to obtain from Seiko?

You're welcome Joel. That's a good question. I guess it would be worth trying. Unfortunately I don't have a Sarb model to try swapping them. I can always look up the number online for the case back and ask them if they have the pipes and pins. I think the prices are all in the same ballpark for the OEM parts direct or from authorized dealers like Marc and this guy.
