Milus Archimedes Watch Review | aBlogtoWatch
Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Milus Archimedes watch. The stainless steel Super Compressor-style case measures in at 41mm wide (13mm thick, 51mm lug-to-lug) and has a secondary crown which operates the bi-directional internal rotating bezel. Inside is a top-grade Swiss-Made ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, operating at 4Hz with 42 hours of power reserve. An anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal tops the dial, and the case also contains an automatic helium release valve for those who plan to test the watch’s water resistance of 300 meters. The Milus Archimedes is available in two different variants, one with a black dial (Ref. MIH-01-001) and the other a blue dial (Ref. MIH-01-002), and pricing for both is $2,077 USD.
HISTORY
THE MODERN SUCCESSOR
Archimèdes by Milus is the modern successor of the Super compressor of the Seventies with its dramatic proportions, as well as the 666, the original model created a decade earlier. In the mid-to-late 50s, Swiss case manufacturer Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA) filed patents and began manufacturing their latest and greates catalog component, the Super Compressor case, for different brands.
During the 70s, it was extremely common for brands to use catalog components from general case manufactures such as EPSA. As a result, many of the vintage Super Compressor that have survived through the years share common and identifiable components.
ARCHIMÈDES BY MILUS - BLUE
CHF 1,919 incl. taxesArchimèdes by Milus is the modern successor to the Milus Super Compressor of the 70s.
To create a stunningly contemporary watch, the models’ reinvention was subsequently a question of research and proportions.
The development focused on the 41mm brushed casing and the reflection of the mirror-polished bezel. The granulated blue dial, three hour digits at the cardinal points, 3 o’clock date window, rotating bezel and famous “Broad Arrow” hands coated in SuperLuminova combine seamlessly to bolster readability.
Its ETA 2892 movement is protected in a steel case equipped with a helium valve, resistant up to 30 ATM or 300 metres.
