Looks like the NBA has sold out like Disney.

AUG 28, 2014 @ 09:01 AM From Football To Football: Hublot Enters Swiss Luxury Watch Industry Into The NFL

Ariel Adams , CONTRIBUTOR
I write about luxury timepieces. Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own.

This week LVMH-owned Swiss watch maker Hublot announced that it has entered into a partnership with the Dallas Cowboys as the official watch maker of the American football team. Specifying "American football" is important in this context because Hublot has most recently been in the popular media as the major sponsor of the FIFA 2014 World Cup. A hyper focus on soccer is now shifting to football as Hublot again pioneers a new marketing avenue of the luxury watch industry.
The Texas-based football team will now be able to claim that they were the first NFL franchise to work with a Swiss watch company, though such "novel relationships" aren't uncommon at Hublot. The company has always prided themselves on entering new and sometimes controversial markets. Former Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver (who is still involved in the company) once proudly exclaimed that he decided to be the first Swiss company to sponsor an African-American athlete - something that has since become much more common. Hublot can also claim to be the first luxury Swiss watch maker to work with basketball teams, and in 2007 they were the first luxury brand overall to work with the FIFA World Cup.

The NBA and Tissot have been business partners for a few years now, nothing new here. Tissot is a reputable manufacturer and their partnership has always seemed to be mutually beneficial.

I don't want to speak for Bob... Bob tell me if I'm wrong. But I think he's just alluding to the selective outrage some collector's have towards some companies which is why he mentions Disney. There has been quite a bit of outrage from this group overall that Invicta has teamed with Disney (which ends up enveloping Lucas Arts, Marvel, etc) Whereas there doesn't seem to be much noise with other companies and their arrangements. Of which of course, there are many. Specific teams, players, actors, leagues, etc.

Invicta isn't the only company that falls prey to this but naturally like anything that has to do with Invicta the complaints are always the loudest.

From a business perspective, like it or not these deals are usually no-brainers for profit margins on both sides. Whether we're talking about Invicta and Disney, Tissot and the NBA, Rolex and Wimbledon, Citizen and Eli Manning and on and on and on. (well after this season, I"m not sure Eli will be getting much anymore.)

The so-called outrage isn't the partnership with Disney, it's the silly product that is bugging us. Every version of every character seems to be such a huge focus, yet most here could care less about the character line.I don't care as I have zero interest in them, yet do I begrudge them a money making effort. No. Do I like the pieces myself>Hell no that's the extent of my so-called outrage.

I agree with you for the most part. For sure I haven't been interested in a single one of of them. But it wouldn't really matter who made them, the whole character watch thing eludes me, maybe if I were younger. But to those who enjoy, more power to you.

I think some don't like the designs, but I do hear/read some, "what is Disney thinking" type remarks.

...and there's Oris' Frank Sinatra Series/ Miles Davis, Raymond Weil Beatles/ Les Paul, Rolex James Cameron/ Beatles theme, Breitling for Bentley watches and the list goes on.

didn't wade hand out hublot to the whole team in Miami?

Yep. He had a limited edition King Power Fusion Hublot that featured his number 3 in the chrono at the three o clolck position in black and red. About a $20,000 watch. Probably got a good discount though, not that he would need one.

omega/swatch a gr8 fit for sporting events-

-as far as licensing agreements re cartoon characters both partners seem to be ringing the register-
