Our local watering hole gets a large chunk of our paychecks each week. It's like Cheers where we know all the staff and customers by name. The owner is a watch guy but he has watches that cost more than my car. Well, he asked me a few weeks ago if I could make a Saints watch for him. I told him I am by no means a "watch maker" and that I just kind of dabble. He saw my other attempts and said he love for me to give it a whirl. Well, his B Day was last week. About 2 weeks ago his wife asked me to make him a Saints watch as a surprise.

As you see the piece is a repurposed Evo. I cut a bronze dial out of sheet stock. I shaped and thinned it. brushed it and then drilled the center hole. A local gunmaker whom has done laser stuff for me before Cerakoted the dial then lasered through that to expose the bronze. I ordered some hands that turned out to fit the look perfectly. Jason, our very own Blue Radish made the strap.

It all came together easier than I anticipate. I think the practice is paying off. This actually looks like a watch that wasn't cobbled together. I'm please with the outcome.

So I got it to him yesterday after setting it up with his wife. I met a buddy there and I had the watch in a gift bag at the table. The owner walked by and immediately started talking about making the watch and he was tossing around ideas and I was trying to keep a poker face. After a few minutes he asked who'd birthday it was. I said it was the buddy that was meeting me and he looked confused and said "I thought his bday was last month??" The buddy goes there a lot too. I played dumb (not too hard lol) and said nope. Well the buddy and his wife come over and I say "well the bag is not "buddy's" it's yours. He opened it up and actually got a little choked up. That just made my year. He really like it and he was so happy his wife surprised him with something personalized. The man has several hug name high dollar watches.

Anyway that was a fun build and an awesome presentation to him.

That looks sweet Brad.(not a Saints fan). That turned out quite well. Sounds like it won him over as well. Good job.
