How much Gold is ACTUALLY in a "Solid Gold" Rolex?

 Thanks for posting this one, Jim.:hat:
REALLY GOOS STUFF JIMMY Z...got a watch mechanic sporting PAM taking a rollie AU apart...BOTTOM LINE

20% VALUE IN AU of $40k =$8,000

so let's think in HIND SITE GOGGLES... if this SOLID AU ROLLIE PURCHASED 2 OR 3 DECADES AGO... gold weigh would have appreciated 7 times... so " it would be worth it's weight in gold "

FORE SITE GOGGLES... the future is un knowable but guaranteed to have a flock of black swans NASSIM TALEB

more thoughsts

FACT: msrp 40k if you are the type who wastes time on haggling you might enjoy your self elsewhere

gold weight and monetization HU GOLD MONETIZATION HAS ISSUES OF PROVENANCE AND FEES... granny selling a " commemorative " gold piece...hhhmm

any way gold "value" 20 %

big mark-up

BOTTOM LINE: 18k gold content enables profitable mark-up

gold has a high value going back to the earliest of man's written word maybe...7-8.000 years... we place a high value on gold in our civilization today

how about $1,900 per ounce...you do your maths

oh yeah more thoughts...would i buy 1 yes

if my income to spend is in ratio

if i get bored i think so far it is a better hedge in watches than most other watches barring phenomenal luck on a 1 off

Beat to the switch , again...:palm:

Don't feel bad Eric .. even using the search functions things slip by.

From now on, Mike...if it's watch related... I'll figure you've already posted it...

Nothing ventured, nothing gained Eric. Anyone adding new threads never hurts. Eventually it all gets stitched together unless things unravel with a forum reboot, update or something else taking stuff into limbo land. The mods can always consolidate if they feel the need.
