:runnin:Brand new watch still wrapped and never worn from the original Android box and stored with a desiccant packet. I'm not sure what quality of materials, procedures or otherwise these companies are using that causes this to happen, but in all of my watches it has only happened to Android and Invicta watches in my collection so far. I have a few more Androids and Invicta's I have to do as well. :dunno:

Unfortunately I have noticed that with my Android watches. It's such a let down. I have to open and clean the crystal. Gets old.

Sent from the White House on the tax payers dime.

I've never seen this occur when the watch has a sapphire crystal. A sapphire crystal is now a prerequisite for the purchase of any new watch with a few exceptions.

I think I read on past posts that it may be the plastic movement retainers "out-gassing" that may be the cause of this phenomena.

:hmm:So all of the Seiko's you've picked up have a sapphire crystal?

I kind of doubt even if they used mineral it would be a problem. I've seen mineral on some Luminox and Bulova that has never fogged up.

All these Brands fog under the bright lights of ShopNBC errr! Evine. all kidding aside though if Aragon made a few of their models like the Parma or the divemaster with a sapphire crystals I would probably have one in each color.

Only some of my Renato's that I don't wear often are hazy. Haven't attempted any cleaning of them though.

You're pretty bright guy you know what I mean.

My Androids and Invictas have this phenomena. It gets old for sure to open and clean the crystal. As I recall Rog1 mentioned he believes it is possibly the gas release of the retainers. I have open quite a few Androids and Invictas and noticed a funky smell. I figured it was the "gas" I read on the forum that is causing the haze. I have not had this experience with any of my Deep Blue, Seiko, NFW, Bulova, Stuhrling Original, Renato, G-shock, and Fossil.

This is actually the only watch that I've had in my collection that has had the mystery fog. I bought it used and it has a small scratch on the crystal so I'm assuming it's a mineral crystal. I have a giant Zeno watch with a 50mm dial opening it has a K1 Crystal and no fog if there was even a single Speck of fog on that Crystal I would see it so who knows? It's always fun to rehash this same topic over and over again though.

Out gassing from plastic materials has been long discussed here and @ WG's,
which leaves a residue in the inside crystal. Why would you not see out-gassing
with Sapphire crystals, just being curious is all ???

Now that it has been mentioned, I recall that I've only had 2 that this has happened with - an Android and and an Invicta. I don't have either one any more. :dunno:

My point exactly. Again I'm not a chemist or watchmaker or do I play one on a watch forum.

Lens haze comes from numerous sources -- dust within a lens, grease or adhesive off-gassing, and even poor lens mechanics using super glue or other high-volatile glues. Those glues also off-gas and release a sticky, cloudy vapor that coats lenselements. ... Haze softens images drastically

I'm going to stick with this theory myself. I have many brands which use a variety of crystals including Swiss Legend. IMO the ( SAPPHITEK™) is nothing more than a fancy name for mineral.

I have two old androids that came right out of the box hazed. Still like my Aragon and Android timepieces though.

I seem to get the really noticeable hazing on my Lupahs more than any other in my collection. It is a pain to clean, but looks so good when done.

oh man, I changed a battery on my brothers X Wing a few months back and when I got the case. back opened it smelled like a shark farted. This could really be true about the plastic letting off gasses. Oh and yeah I've had some Droids and Invictas plus a Swiss Legend fog on me.

I'm literally in tears from your shark fart remark.:lolcry: I will probably use that description from now on.

Purple haze, all in my brain
Lately things they don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
Excuse me while I kiss the sky

I recall back in August of 2014 I purchased the AD535BPU DM automatic T-100 from Island watch. When it arrived it was completely wrapped BNIB. When checking it out I noticed the haze over the purple. I contacted Mark and sent him photos and another was in the mail the same day. Once again I checked it only to find the same purple haze. The third one Mark sent was fine in 2014, but many moons had passed when I found some gas. I was taking some photos when I noticed the haze under the crystal.

The ANDROID Divemaster Enforcer T100 has tritium tubes, that glow in the dark. Compared to regular lume, these tubes glow longer and do not need to be charged to light up in the dark. The watch also has a reliable Japanese automatic SII NH35 movement.
