I guess Hamilton did not trademark the name frogman in in 1943 when it came out and Casio could not when it came out in 1993 because it had been used?

You
Hamilton used the name Frogman for its watch in 1943 yet Casio used the name Frogman for their watch in 1993 how is there no trademark issue?

Copilot
The coexistence of the Hamilton and Casio watches both named “Frogman” indeed seems intriguing. Let’s explore the reasons behind this apparent lack of trademark conflict:
  1. Hamilton’s Frogman:

  1. Casio’s Frogman:
    • In 1993, Casio introduced its own Frogman watch.
    • Casio’s use of the name “Frogman” didn’t directly conflict with Hamilton’s established usage. Here’s why:
In summary, the lack of a trademark issue likely stems from the generic nature of the term “Frogman” in the context of diving watches. Both brands have coexisted without significant legal conflicts, emphasizing the broader industry understanding of the term rather than exclusive brand rights.

This is a very cool redo but at 46 mm it’s an easy pass for me. I would be all over this at 43 mm though.

Right ...so a year after they released the 46mm they released them in 41mm. H77455331

I am ok with the 46mm and it is about $100 cheaper than the 41mm on Joma.

Hamilton has really nailed it with this one. There is no disappointment in any area, fit, finish, operation all perfect. The Swiss know something about watch making. Even if I paid full retail I would still say this watch delivers. I had planned on switching out the band with a Barton Elite and also have a Bracelet but this Hamilton strap is very cool looking, comfortable and very solid feeling on the wrist. Small details are done to a high standard like the high polish on the crown guard beveled edges and the way the strap tang integrates flush into the buckle. The bezel is unlike any design with the raised numbers and markers shining over the matte black textured finish. It is simply beautiful to behold and operate. Legibility is the best of any watch I have owned under all lighting conditions with the lume and hand design plus the larger size all coming together to provide outstanding performance
