With the feedback that I've got from you and other enthusiasts, I've revised the dirty dozen homage design and I'm proud to reveal our 1945 D12 to you.
My intention is to stay close to the classics but update a few aspects of the watch so it doesn't look like a mere replica. We will be using the same trusted Miyota 82s5 movement (crown at 4pm) hack and wind, size will be 37mm, 46mm lug to lug for vintage sizing that suits the modern wrist. Dial will spot a coarse texture with subdial as a second layer. Lume will be the same C3 in the Trench but I'm asking my factory If they can improve on it so we shall see. Crystal will be a thick flat sapphire with rounded corners to give that vintage watch vibe without losing clarity since most of the dial is flat except the corners. Screw down crown is slightly larger for easy handling, more character and will be signed with lumed V.

What is more controversial is the triangle marker above 12 instead of the classic baton so it's easier to distinguish North and hopefully with the crown at 4pm, this D12 will stand on its own and not be looked upon as a copy. The broad arrow won't be on the dial as well since we were not commissioned by the British and the logo is trademarked. The solid caseback will spot W.W.W. along with a simple illustration which I'll leave it as a suspense for now but I think it sends a beautiful message.

What I'm not sure of is which colours will be more popular and how many of these to make. I might also change the small second hands to yellow or red for a more sporty look for some of the variants but I'll only know when I start pairing the samples. Lastly I'm not sure if we need a bigger size for this watch. Retail price will be similar to 1918 Trench with a special intro price during launch. Please help me with my survey if you're interested in this project so I can gauge the interest level and make enough of these watches for you, hopefully before September 2022. Feel free to reply my email if you have any comments/feedback for me.

Thanks
Ivan

i like the trench and had read the lume could be better

old radium is an interesting fashion statement and has the look of vintage but has the advantage of not being radioactive like old " radium "

but C3 and X1 is brighter longer

i prefer the mint green signifying C3

You haven't seen a pilot watch quite like this. It's the Vario 1918 Pilot, a vintage-inspired watch that takes its cues from the watches of WWI. With a fixed lug trench watch style case, and twisted/rotated dial.

After the Great War, there were many decommissioned war planes. And in 1919, early British aviators Alcock and Brown planned the world’s first-ever transatlantic flight in a modified Vickers Vimy plane. In that tradition we are repurposing our Trench watch as a tilted Pilot watchAlso in 1919, another definitive flight took place - the first from England to Australia. Piloted by Captain Ross McPherson Smith, the plane touched down in Singapore, making it the very first flight to land in the Lion City. He and his brother, Sir Keith Macpherson Smith, were the first pilots to fly from England to Australia, in 1919. In all likelihood, Captain McPherson Smith kept his time with a tilted dial timepiece similar to the Vario 1918.

This is one of the most unusual microbrands out there making a wide variety of watches each more different than the last. This watch is no exception, very unusual, not what I was expecting but still a very impressive design by Ivan at Vario.
