AN ICONIC CASE DESIGN

As a result of the rigorous testing that this watch has endured, the internal mechanism is protected by the robust Bremont Trip-Tick® case system which is hardened to 2,000 Vickers and incorporates an anti-magnetic Faraday cage and anti-shock movement mount. The case is available in stainless steel or a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) finish with a choice of three brand new dial designs in black, white and blue.

There are 9 knurled aluminium barrel colours to choose from, including purple, bronze, jet and aluminium versions. These additional colourways have been inspired by some of the exclusive military and special projects watches that Bremont has worked on for Officers of Royalty Protection, Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor Pilots and the RAF’s 100 Squadron to name a few.

THE BREMONT MB COLLECTION
Martin-Baker is a British aviation company responsible for supplying 70% of the world’s Air Forces with fighter ejection seat technology. To date Martin-Baker has saved over 7,600 lives. The company approached Bremont in 2007 to create a watch that could withstand the same rigorous testing programme as the ejection seats do. Two years later, the Bremont MBI was born. The limited edition MBI remains solely for pilots who have ejected from an aircraft using a Martin-Baker seat whereas the MBII and MBIII are available to all.

The MB Range is a must-have for any serious collector. It has been put through the same intensive, extensive testing schedule that the ejection seats go through including: Live Ejection Testing, MFOS Crashworthy Testing, Extreme Temperature Endurance, Vibration Testing, Altitude Testing and Aircraft Carrier Deck Testing.

TESTED BEYOND ENDURANCE.
Proving that these are the toughest and most durable watches out there, here is a list of some of the extreme testing these mechanical timepieces have endured:

LIVE EJECTION TESTING
Live ejection launch puts the watch under extreme G forces.

ALTITUDE TESTING
The watches are held in an Altitude Test Chamber to simulate taking them up to 100,000 feet for 60 minutes before being rapidly brought down again.

AIRCRAFT CARRIER DECK TEST
The ACDT test simulates the level of salt fog and humidity that an aircraft carrier deck would endure during a 6 month tour. Exposure to salt and then drying for 96 hours tests the watches against corrosion and the binding of moving parts.

VIBRATION TESTING
The test shakes and vibrates the watch on the wrist of a test dummy to simulate a 30 year life of an aircraft.

EXTREME TEMPERATURE ENDURANCE
The Bremont MB watches have been subjected to Temperature Testing to ensure they continue to operate in extreme conditions. The watch is held for one day in temperatures as low as -40°C, and then up to +40°C for a further 24 hours.

MFOS CRASHWORTHY TEST
The Multi-functional Operators Seat (MFOS) is used in helicopters such as the Blackhawk. This particular test pictured was simulating a dynamic forward crash at over 18G, moving at 42ft per second.

The range originally derived from the exclusive Bremont MBI, a unique and bespoke watch available to Martin-Baker ejectees only and can be quickly identified by its red aluminium barrel. Contact us to enquire about this particular model.

A CHRONOMETER RATED MOVEMENT
The MBII is powered by a modified calibre BE-36AE automatic chronometer movement with 38-hour power reserve and features a brand new black automatic bridge, designed to be more shock resistant.

There are two case back options available; an open case back showcasing the movement and automatic winding rotor or a newly designed case back is inset with a bronze coloured ‘military challenge coin’, historically used to represent membership of a unit/elite group of people or service on a specific tour of duty.

The case back is available in both stainless steel and DLC, with the optional addition of a personal engraving.

Bremont Martin Baker MBII Watch Review | aBlogtoWatch

Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Bremont Martin Baker MBIl watch. This particular example was custom-made online via Bremont’s Configurator, which allows customers to select their preferred case style (natural stainless steel or DLC-coated black), three different dial colors, open or solid caseback, and a custom color for the Bremont-signature aluminum middle-case barrel. The 43mm wide case is water-resistant to 100m and houses a Bremont Caliber BE-36AE movement, which is a base ETA 2836-2 movement modified to be more shock-resistant as well as COSC Chronometer certified. Core design details of the first Martin Baker collection remain, including the black & yellow-striped pull-tab style counterweight on the seconds hand. Around the dial is an internal rotating bezel, operated by the lower of the two crowns on the right hand side of the case. Pricing starts at $4,995 USD, and customers can see all available options via the Configurator on Bremont’s website.
