French brand Baltic have today expanded their popular MR Collection with the release of four new MR Roulette models which are expected to be permanent additions to the range. Having previously reserved their sector dial offerings to the HMS Collection, the MR Roulette models see the spirited art-deco style expand into a new collection.
Offering a sense of timeless elegance and sophistication, the sector dials are presented in black, blue, salmon and silver, all of which are protected underneath high-domed hesalite glass. Decorated with a grained background (or, glossy if it’s the black variant you’re interested in), each dial is presented with a railroad track and hour markers in the traditional Baltic serif typography, atop two brushed sectors. The dials also feature an off-centre, guilloche finished seconds sub-counter and polished dauphine hands.
Each Baltic MR Roulette model is housed in a classic 36mm stainless steel case with vertically brushed bezel and is equipped with the automatic Hangzhou CAL5000a Micro-rotor which can be seen in action through the transparent case back. Having integrated the micro-rotor into the height of the movement, the MR Roulette has an ultra-thin, elegant profile of only 9.9mm or 8mm without glass.
The four new additions will join the permanent collection from today’s date, with shipping expected to take place from July 15 th . The first 100 watches purchased of each model will be exclusively numbered.

This week on A Week in Watches, we have one update to a much-loved line by Baltic, a new complication from Ochs Und Junior that is either really confusing or just not well explained, and then a new, smaller version of one of Vero’s most popular watches.
This Silver Dial Should Not Be Legible...Yet Its Exceptional

I was keen to get this silver dialled watch in from Baltic to give it a go, knowing in the back of my mind, I wonder how they are going to get around the legibility problem, being all silver dial and handset. To my surprise this has been a superb watch with the legibility being a non-issue. Also an extremely attractive one at that.
If you liked the standard MR01, then you will like this new roulette version. Possibly even more. Thumbs up for the brushed top bezel surface, the dust gathering properties of the old one did my nut in. Cheers, Jody
