Before stn display seemed lackluster. The digits seemed distant and gray rather than sharp and black. So what is a poor boy to do? A silicone oil Hydromod........

Before

After

Digits no longer look sunken down in the display. No issues with bubbles and all functions work only now the screen looks black and sharp as a tack.....better in person than in these pictures.

Also much better viewing at extreme angles....

So last night I was able to answer my question about whether or not the solar charging would still work with the oil. The solar works just fine with the oil. I tested by seeing how much light it would take to wake the watch up from ps sleep state and as before, very little light was required. Also the radio reception works as well if not better as I was able to GET a manual sync at 5pm, not the ideal time. The watch then did it's automatic sync on the first try.

:good:

Pardon my ignorance but you did this how?
Well in a nutshell. I opened the case and filled it with silicone oil, made sure all the air was out and closed the case. There are youtube videos of the process called hydromod. Those videos, however make the process look very messy and wasteful. Over the course of doing 5 of these now I have developed my own method that reduces mess and waste and assures no bubbles but the technique is nothing like what is shown. Still the result is the watch case is simply filled with low viscosity silicone oil and closed.

Since I could not hear the alarms before I can't compare but I would caution that the oil will mute the alarm making them inaudible to even good ears. So if you use the alarms this hydromod is not for you.

I figured but wasn't sure...I would worry that I'd get a bubble...good you got that figured out...(y)

So to update now after about a month of calibrating the altimeter occasionally it seems to be functioning properly again. The baro pressure dropped and the elevation has increased as it should. Patience pays a dividend..

altimeter and barometer

2 complications i would luv to play with

That is sooo interesting !!
I found it to be a real mystery to figure out what was going on since for a long time the altimeter was reading backwards with pressure. My thought is the shock gel inside was expanding due to the oil for a time throwing off the altimeter readings but has now stabilized inside the case so all is well with it.

Those and the sunrise/sunset feature......don't use the compass since I rarely leave the house :ROFLMAO:
i track sunrise sunset... dance of life to music of circadian rhythms

leaving the house more these days... my internal compass works pretty good but would luv empirical confirmation by compass
