šŸ  Things getting a little Fishy...

Today I saw a very small baby guppy.....swimming. Glad I put the filter bag over the power filter inlets or it would have gotten sucked in for sure.
yeah i forgot that...they either get et or sucked to death...small odds on survival unless placed in another tank

and then it is like watches ...just 1 more tank

i forgot i had multiple tanks ... like circling plates ...until they come crashing down in stinky water

now i enjoy immensely your clean tank USC

I did have multiple tanks in the past ....now just one tank and a couple 3 gal stainless steel buckets to facilitate partial water changes and gravel cleaning. One filled with conditioned water ready to add to the tank and one empty to siphon dirty water into then empty out in the flower bed. First water change coming when I change the filter system Tue.

just 1 more...

some day i would like to have some tanks...like i said fancy gold fish come cheap on bay now...no heater required...

BETTAS aka SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH much more exotic than when i was a kid...guppies... really fancy ship direct

wrapping watches...pant pant...joys of moving

My bad.....no still born just looking at yolk sacks left over. Didn't know they came out rolled up ball sack
no i never knew that

birthing was usually in the night and complete when i woke in the AM

also ; if i used a birthing tank it was clear plastic cube with air-pontoons floated free at the surface 4" x 6 " with a clear V insert and a 1/2 open gap at the bottom... babies fall with gravity and are safe from being eaten by HANNA THE CANNIBAL GUPPY MOMMY

if i used that birthing cube ... i saved babies

otherwise many had been eaten by morning and the rest would be eaten shortly in the community tank...i never had a baby guppy grow to size in a community tank

cat fish and scavengers were alway lively and fun...except a lazy or shy PLECO... so I often had them and they polished off guppy babies like BABY-RUTH

about 3 yrs ago, I bought a cheap Pleco on sale at Petsmart and noticed it had beautiful blue stripes after I got home. I was thrilled. Then, my Fn Severum ate him. :(

Not sure what is going on as I just counted 12 guppy fry swimming around at this feeding time.
maybe...because all fish are well fed

less cannibalism goin' on

- in the first pix i saw plenty preg female bellies..short gestation from sex to baby in guppy lives

- that is why it is tough when you bring a prize male in the tank...because the females are all knocked up might be by guppy trailer trash

guppy gestation is 21-30 days fry number about 30 but can vary widely up to 100

considered EXTREMELY PROLIFIC

I'm one of those who had a bunch of tanks about 35 years ago. 10's, 20's, up to 55's. Might have had about 10 going at one time. Had all the betas and guppies, angels, goldfish, oscars. Mostly went in for the cichlids. Past year been wanting to set up another 10 or 20. Didn't notice this thread till now so.... thanks for more enabling.

I must have bought them pregnant as they shipped separated from the males. Can't wait to see what colors develop. The more the merrier ordered another sponge filter with different design double sponge. Fry and small shrimp like hiding in them and eating off them.
