It's not that I forgot about the trinkets Dayman. I have a log book with dates of everything I picked up. It has the brands, movements, prices paid, etc. I was doing really well keeping a log with battery changes, etc. Where things went astray was having only so many hours in a day and doing four or five fifteen hour shifts at work every week. After a while, things start to become hazier than a bunch of Android watch crystals. I had no idea where some were buried away. I had a habit of filling up boxes and just packing them away.
These days I sort of try to keep them organized in an empty room dedicated to trinkets. They are stored inside labeled totes. As I discover stuff I couldn't find they get checked and filed by brand. The more recent stuff isn't a problem because the majority came in when I was starting the tote filing system. I have three totes full of ZELOS alone. I keep a folder on a computer with the labeled totes in various colors. The TOC tells me the contents inside. This only works if I put things back from where they came from. It doesn't take long to scramble things up all over again if things are not put back in place.
Ideally I would like to cut out 95% of the Android, Invicta, Renato and some Deep Blues along with some others that have outgrown my taste. The biggest hurdle for me is having to deal with shipping and tracking. I need to shut down the incoming pipeline in order to devote my attention to stuff that would be going out when the time comes.
It would be a beautiful thing to lighten the trinket load by at least half or more. I've tried this in the past, but have failed miserably. It remains at the top of my New Year's resolution list. Slimming down the collection in 2022 only works if I remain vigilant not adding anymore when and if the purge can ever begin.
I use these totes in various colors.
