  • WATCH GIVEAWAY: Marathon MSAR Automatic Dive Watch

    36mm Artic Edition Modified SW200

    MAY 01, 2020 — BY ABLOGTOWATCH

s May 2020 begins, so does another aBlogtoWatch giveaway! This month, we’re giving away this rugged Marathon Arctic Edition Medium Search And Rescue Automatic with Date and Tritium 36MM Automatic (MSAR Automatic, for short) dive watch. Built to the same standards as Marathon’s U.S. military-issue timepieces, the Marathon MSAR Automatic brings durable utilitarian performance in a compact 36mm case size.

This 36mm stainless steel case is incredibly tough and functional, with a tall, easy-to-use rotating dive bezel and prominent knurled crown. This clean, simple diver form offers a solid 300 meters of water resistance.

Designed for maximum legibility in any conditions, the white dial of the Marathon MSAR Automatic is dominated by its syringe hands, oversized Arabic numerals, and use of tritium gas tubes in place of more commonplace luminous paint. These unusual elements provide a continuous steady glow regardless of lighting conditions, keeping this watch glowing all the way through the night while other dials slowly lose their charge.

Marathon powers the MSAR Automatic with a modified Sellita SW200 automatic movement. To meet the harsh environment needs of the MSAR, this staple automatic powerplant has been adjusted for additional torque to handle the weight of tritium tubes, as well as provided with an additional Incabloc shock absorber. This modified movement offers 48 hours of power reserve.

Marathon completes the package on the MSAR Automatic with a brushed three-link oyster bracelet that is as handsome as it is tough. Marathon currently prices this watch at $1,070.

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.
If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.
As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide".
