Watchfinder & Co. presents:

This watch here is the Altiplano by Piaget. It’s pretty nice, isn’t it? Nice and simple, nothing too overbearing. Probably wouldn’t make you look twice. It’s refined, it’s elegant, it’s subtle and it’s sensible. But what if I told you that it’s actually one of the most impressive watches ever made?

1874

La Côte-aux-Fées is a small village in the Swiss Jura mountains located at over 1000 meters altitude. Winters, often harsh in the region, increase the isolation of this hamlet. This is where Georges-Édouard Piaget began laying the groundwork for what would later become an inimitable signature of fine watchmaking and jewelry.

THE PIAGET DYNASTY

In 1874, at the age of nineteen, Georges-Édouard Piaget set up his first workshop on the family farm where he devoted himself to the manufacture of components and high precision movements. His motto “Always do better than necessary” reflected both his ambition and an ideal of self-surpassing that would continue to permeate the company and contribute to its success. Its reputation began to radiate well beyond the pastures of La Côte-aux-Fées. Soon Piaget would be supplying components and movements to the most prestigious watch brands in Switzerland.

ALTIPLANO WATCH

Timeless purity and classicism converge in this ultra-thin white-gold timepiece, which pays homage to the elegance and refinement characteristic of Piaget. In a resolutely minimalistic spirit reflected by the highly contemporary dimensions of the Altiplano, Piaget continues to push back the limits of micromechanics in the field of ultra-thin watches: thanks to its micro-rotor principle, Piaget presents one of the thinnest automatic mechanical movements on the market measuring just 2.35 mm thick; and one of the thinnest watches in its category, with a thickness of 5.25 mm. The silver-colored dial, arranged on three levels, is also highly refined with its small-seconds display at 4 o'clock. A truly modern classic that is both discreet and elegant.

Your mechanical watch will enjoy being wound up every day to keep its movement in motion.
    • For a manual winding watch, turn the crown until it resists, without forcing it.
    • For a self-winding (automatic) watch, we recommend at least 20 turns of the crown.
