The Karsten Frassdorf Spirograph Sport Tourbillon is a stainless steel 45mm sports watch that happens to be a tourbillon. This marine chronometer for your wrist measures 13.9mm in thickness and can be customized entirely to suit the tastes of the owner. Each Montres Karsten Fräßdorf Spirograph Sport is a potential piece unique according to buyer preference.
The Karsten Frassdorf Spirograph sport includes a dial formed of multi-layer hour track, a honeycomb motif that honors German-born Fräßdorf's adopted Swiss home town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, and a base of satin metal. The lumed dial employs Super Luminova to ensure nighttime legibility.
Each Spirograph Sport tourbillon is built around Karsten Frassdorf's exclusive caliber 440 manufacture movement. The manual-wind caliber incorporates an enormous non-annular freesprung balance inspired by eighteenth and nineteenth century marine chronometers. The enormous mass of this balance helps to ensure superb accuracy, and a Straumann alloy hairspring enables antimagnetic resistance to fields of up to 1,000 Gauss; shock resistance is rated up to 5,000Gs.
Frassdorf's hand-formed hairspring features both inner Grossman curve and outer (overcoil) Philips curve for concentric beating in any position. Each caliber 440 includes a balance with proprietary compensation features that ensure isochronous behavior regardless of temperature. This pillar movement literally is constructed like vintage navigation clocks, and a stopworks limits the potentially 70-hour power reserve to 44 hours, which is the chronometric power reserve of the mainspring.
