This watch was part of the twofer I picked up from a private seller a few weeks ago. The other was a Raven Deep Tech 42, reviewed here: www.watchintyme.com/thread/16989/review-unintentional-grail-raven-deep
Both watches were pristine upon arrival and this Magrette (pronounced Mah-greh-tee) was the one that first grabbed my attention. This is
one sweet diver, and one that will stay with me for a long time!
I hope my photos will demonstrate the appeal of this retro-designed, New Zealand timepiece. I assure you that in hand, and on wrist, it's
even more satisfying.
The History of Magrette is quite interesting and can be found here under the tab "Our Story": http://magrette.com/magrette.com/
First,

Packaging: Branded pine wood box with sliding top. Watch and straps nestled within a nice canvas roll with leather string-tie, on the inside
Note: The Magrette Moana Pacific Professional 44 is also available in several other case and dial color executions. Although several after market bracelets will work well with this watch, I can find no OEM Magrette bracelet currently available.
Now, my
Images & Comments:
Dial, Hands & Bezel...
Though the coin-edge bezel color in combination with the blue dial is unusual, I quite like it. The touches of yellow bring just enough drama
to keep things interesting. I also like the design of the outer chapter ring which includes the 500M water Resistance rating. Placement of the
date window at 4:30 instead of "at 3:00", allows for symmetrical placement of the Arabic hour markers... Great attention to detail!
Case, Crown & Crystal...
There's something quite appealing about this case shape for me, particularly in profile. While it is not exclusive to Magrette, they execute
it well in combination with their bezel design.
I always welcome pierced lugs for ease of strap changes. The large, screw-down crown secures with precision and is easy to manipulate.
The double-domed sapphire crystal is AR coated, on the under-side of course. Double-domed (( , as opposed to single domed (l , makes for
complete elimination of dial distortion, at any angle.
The Case-back...
I'm very fond of this case-back design, Not sure why.
Custom Bond Tailored Strap...
All Bond straps are 100% hand made. They are pricey (this one at $120. plus $20. for the buckle), but the fine detail and finish explain why.
Luminescence...
Some claim disappointment that the markers glow weaker than the hands. I have no such complaint. On this one, the C3 SL is powerful
all 'round.
On the Wrist...
The piece is comfortable and well-balanced. And the presence is outstanding!
So there you have it... My introduction and review of the Magrette Moana Pacific Professional. This is a watch that is a joy to
wear and look at. With nothing worth mentioning to dislike, I am pleased to recommend it!
And as always... Thanks for lookin', WiTs!!!
