New MONSTER arrived a day or two ago. I'm really getting hooked on these Seiko auto divers. Drilled lugs, GREAT wrist presence, and some kind of watchmaking alchemy on the part of Seiko makes these watches interesting and fun to work on and photograph.

(This was another Lee Special. I believe it was $179 shipped, no tax. Thanks again Lee!!!)

Seems to play bigger on the wrist than the stated 42MM.....

6903

There's something about these Monster bracelets that's really appealing to me...they seem chunky yet refined. Good finish on the steel. The bracelet is 20MM at the lugs but extends out to 23MM just below the lugs.

Lume, in the living room with the lights on......

In total darkness:

I timed the watch for a day and a half before sizing it and it was running about -6 average in 24 hours--outside of COSC. At first I was disappointed, but then I'm thinking....am I REALLY going to be getting upset about it being off 2 seconds a day? I would prefer that it was running fast when new as opposed to slow, but all of this might change when I'm actually wearing the watch, etc. Moving on.....

Bracelet is pin and collar so it took me a little longer to size than expected. I didn't know it was pin and collar at first, and I got confused. A quick YouTube video and a glass of Pyrat Rum got me back on track.

I really like the knurling on the PVD Crown. Second hand moves very smoothly around the dial. Bezel rotates easily and I cannot detect any misalignment.

Apparently Seikos have a reputation as slow day and date changers. This one is no exception--it goes on for hours! Funny....quirky....

Once Seiko gets its claws in you it's hard to get them out. Great pickup. I recommend an SRP637 Baby Tuna if you haven't already gone there.

Nicely done TC like the orange dial as it works well with the black bezel & enjoy! Also looks perfect on your wrist at 42mm.

You gotta love Seiko.
I've never understood why many watch aficionados give them a bad rap.

Happy Halloween, Ya gotta love a classic shark tooth monster.
I still can't believe and I regret that I captured and released a silver dial version to a fellow Watch Geek years ago.

Congratulations and welcome to the Seiko club.

...and thus it begins.

Simple - Seiko is not Swiss. (Personally, I see that as a plus factor but that's just me.)

Quite so, the "Onset of Seikoholism" is no joking matter.

It starts benignly enough, perhaps being impressed by the Lumibrite on a Seiko 5, but soon enough you start speaking in jargon: "Urushi", "Cocktail Time", "Thai Zimbe", "Turtle", "Zaratsu" and the like.

A sure sign of needing a 12 step program is understanding Seiko model numbers - I haven't gotten there yet and am working to assure I never do.

When I first saw it a while ago I thought it was too much about the Halloween colors to be taken seriously. But I have to say that in person it's like just a normal cool watch. The Halloween colors don't really make it look too "out there".
