"Strong, simple and iconic: for many years the Luminor Logo has been one of the best-sellers of the Panerai collections with its powerful, distinctive identity.. A sports watch with a striking, minimalist design, this model’s only decorative element is the OP logo on the dial; all the other details are purely functional, faithful to the history of Panerai. This new Luminor Base Logo and Luminor Marina Logo use the P.6000 calibre, hand-wound with a power reserve of three days. Completely created by Panerai’s high quality watchmaking Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the calibre is 15½ lignes in diameter and its balance, which oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, is securely fixed in position by a bridge with twin supports. For greater precision when adjusting the time, the calibre also has the device which stops the balance when the winding crown is pulled out. The dial of the model has the classic Panerai design, extremely readable both in daylight and in the dark. Consisting of the interlinked letters O and P with two arrows pointing up and down, this logo refers to Officine Panerai’s two historic vocations. In the early years of the 20th century, the Panerai workshops in Florence began creating optical and other precision instruments for the Royal Italian Navy, not only for underwater operations but also for searching the sky. The combination of sea and sky is part of the history of the brand, a fact which is marked by the name Radiomir, that of the first military diver’s watch ever made by Panerai, created for the Navy in 1936, which has gradually evolved over the years into the contemporary Luminor. The name Radiomir originally described the radium-based luminescent substance patented by Panerai in 1916 to make the luminous dials of aiming instruments and sighting binoculars."

MAINTENANCE
Panerai watches are produced to very high standards of quality. It is worth remembering that the mechanical parts run 24 hours a day when used, so the watch must undergo regular maintenance to ensure long life and good operation.

WATER-RESISTANCE

Have watch checked periodically for water-resistance by an Authorized Panerai Service Centre and renovate it every two years with regular servicing, or whenever the watch has to be opened. The restoration of water-resistance necessarily involves replacing the seals in order to ensure the maximum water resistance and protection. Where the watch is used in underwater sports activities, it is recommended that it should be checked every year before the underwater activities begin.

THE MOVEMENT

Have the movement of watch checked periodically by an Authorized Panerai Service Centre in order to preserve its perfect operation. If the watch has a tendency to gain or lose time to a significant degree, the movement may need to be overhauled. The movements are designed to withstand temperature variations between -10°C and +60°C (14°F and 140°F). Outside this range of temperatures, operational variations exceeding those set out in the specifications of the movement may be noticed. In addition, there is a risk that the lubricants contained in the movement may deteriorate, resulting in damage to some of its parts.

CLEANING THE EXTERIOR

To keep the exterior in perfect condition, we recommend washing Panerai watch with soap and warm water, using a soft brush. After this operation, and also after immersion in the sea or a swimming pool, carefully rinse the watch with fresh water. All Panerai watches can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.

THE STRAP

Panerai straps must be washed in warm water and left to dry. It is important not to dry them on a hot surface or expose them to direct sunlight, because the rapid evaporation of the water could damage their shape and quality. After each immersion in the sea or a swimming pool, carefully rinse the strap with fresh water. It is recommended that the strap and the buckle should be replaced by an Authorized Distributor or a Panerai Service Centre, in order to avoid any problems caused by incorrect replacement. Only an Authorized Distributor or Panerai Service Centre can guarantee the use of genuine Panerai straps, properly designed to fit the dimensions of the case and manufactured according to the quality standards of the brand. All alligator leather used by Officine Panerai comes from farms in Louisiana, USA. Officine Panerai’s suppliers have committed to the highest standard of responsibility and have given their assurance that such farms in Louisiana contribute to the stable growth of wild alligators, thus protecting this endangered species. Panerai does not use leather coming from endangered species taken from the wild.

Here’s a rather nice looking entry level Pam, a Luminor Base Logo which unfortunately has only been made available to those purchasing from Panerai's online boutique in the US.
Powering this new Luminor Base Logo is the P.6000 caliber, hand-wound with a power reserve of three days. Further spec. includes a 44mm Stainless steel case with 100 meters of water-resistance.
MSRP is $4,750 USD.
If you’re looking to get into your first Pam, this is an excellent starting point. While it isn’t a diver per se, it does have great nautical heritage plus this special logo will go up in value too.

what an excellent watch! And every strap looks fantastic. Thanks for the info.

Stunningly beautiful and iconic watch, Love it.

*Funny story: While speed reading through the text of this thread I accidentally mis-read the MSRP ..... Thinking it said 475USD (instead of the correct 4750USD) I damn near broke my mouse buttons and fingers trying to get over to the site to order one, Duuuur!
:dizzy:

Great way to add a Panerai to the collection. Bad timing for me, though.
