Yesterday I replaced the battery in my Invicta Excursion with an ISA 8172/220 quartz chronograph movement in it. I know that ISA movements have a really bad rap overall but so far I have not had any problems with them. I noticed that ISA did a great job of covering up the two coils in the 8172/220 to prevent them from being accidentally damaged during servicing.

Many people have ruined other quartz movements by doing simple battery changes and accidentally nicking the coils with a tool. That's easy to do, especially with the fully exposed coil in the Ronda 515 movement and its extremely close proximity next to the end of the battery contact strip.

It's nice to see that at last ISA thought of that problem and did something about it. It didn't save them from going out of business though.

I agree. They also did a better job with the battery clamp design making the hold down easier to work with compared to some of the Ronda quartz movements I've done.

Well said. I know when I used to change batteries (only 2 quartz left on my collection) those little battery holder arms were catapults if I wasn’t careful.

You have to remember to keep pressure on the release screw and work in an area where you can find it if it gets away from you Brad.
