After owning the vintage lume No Date and the C3 No Date versions of the previous run of Divemasters. I loved that Blancpain and chunky Ennebi combination from the first picture I saw so I am definitely biased in favor of this watch. Before those 2, I never cared for any Gruppo Gamma and I have had about 5 GG’s since. So I reached out to the owner Naoki about lending me a blue dial with white markers prototype at some point so here we are.
For doing this, I don’t get a free watch and I don’t get any discount. The reward is simply being able to play with it and share with the world. This way I can make an inform decision before I buy it.
I don’t do reviews so I just share what I love about them and dislike, but that’s about it.
I haven’t looked into specs but it appears a bit slimmer than the first generation and it has that WOW factor I never got from the first run. It’s like it went from a solid daily wearer look on the first run, to that blue watch you love to stare at when no one is looking. You just have to admire it, if you’re like me. I never had that feeling with the first generation ones.
44mm is my preferred size and this one has to be one of the smallest and most comfortable wearing 44mm diver I’ve had. Right up there with the Tempest Commodore in wrist real estate and comfort
They’ll come in canvas straps but I didn’t get those so I immediate put it on this aftermarket mesh and you may understand why I really fell in love. As mentioned before, I’m biased but I have to express my feelings as best as I can. It’s like going from an iPhone 5 to my new IPhone XR. All is perfect now (except for one thing) and just blew me away.
8.5in wrist
Then I switched to my blue canvas from

And today I switched to bloody Horween from @1971Straps on IG
Gruppo Gamma has lots of fans and they mostly love screw lugs. I can appreciate that they listen to their customers, but I just wish it had drilled lugs. I mean, it’s super easy to swap straps by screwing and unscrewing but I always prefer drilled lugs.
I don’t care for casebacks of any kinds but I know some of you do, so here you go.
It would be rude not to share the lume shot:
They chose to go with ETA 2824-2 this time, instead of Seiko NH35. I do prefer Seiko for my money but I can always appreciate a good solid ETA engine.
Do I love the new domed ceramic bezel more than the flat sapphire bezel from the first run? No. I love them equality. Would need both versions in my hands to really tell.
Is this the one I’m buying ?
I will buy a No Date version blue dial but I have to see the Sunburst blue version first. I absolutely love this dial but I have a feeling that I will love the sunburst version a bit more. I will wait until they post pictures first.
Let me know if you have any questions, if you like it or if you hate it too. We all have different tastes so feel free to speak freely.
