Would I be stupid to do this?

I happen to have a first generation Sea Hunter with a valgranges A07 GMT with the meteorite dial I’ve always wanted it and after a few yrs I managed to track one down two yrs ago on EBay for a reasonable price. Now I don’t wear it all the time but I’ve been looking at Tourbillons as of late mostly Asian tourbillon’s due to cost. Now if you were in my shoes would you keep the Sea Hunter and get the Tourbillon or sell the Sea Hunter to fund the Tourbillon? Anyways I’ll love to hear your opinions and thoughts.

No collector or the moves a person makes in this hobby is stupid or else I'm as dumb as a rock. Go with your gut instinct and frig what anyone else says or thinks. Every individual has a mind of their own and will leave their own unique fingerprints on their own collection and the path they choose to build it. Best of luck on your decision.

I'm with Mike. In the watch game don't drink anyone else's Kool-Aid...sip how you like. If I had the SH I'd keep that as that one is super nice and will be really hard to rebuy if you have seller's remorse. I would say maybe sell off some of the pieces you don't wear as much to fund the tourby. Also if you can wait it out they are sure to drastically drop in price over the next 6-10 months. I'm doing the same right now. Was chasing a Ridwan so put some "lesser" pieces on the block to fund. Luckily, or unluckily, the buyer dropped the Ridwan a ton so I pounced and now have to really move the "lesser" pieces.....or work an extra shift or 2 lol. In sum...keep SH, wait out he tourby price drop if you can, sell lesser pieces if possible

Some good advice I know the SH I have I’ve only seen pop up once or even twice for double what I paid and although it’s heavy for me to wear on a daily basis, I still think it’s cool looking. The funny thing is I don’t think too many Invicta Collectors remember or even seen one of these?

At the end of the day, if you're not wearing the watch, you already have an answer. The dumb part would come in on what you're willing to let it go for it. You should never be in a rush to sell a watch, especially a rare automatic. A lot of collectors will pay a premium for that model due to the Rarity if it is in good condition. Just be honest with your photographs when you sell it and if you are able to sell the watch for what you think it's worth and buy a watch that you enjoy more and will get more wrist time, it's a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, with true Invicta fashion, the market is now flooded with the once coveted tourbillon. But like many other movements, when they run out of stock, these watches will increase in "collector value" again over time.
Invicta seems to be going cheaper and cheaper with their movements, both automatic, and quartz. Older collectors see this, so you may not lose your shirt on this sea hunter 🤞

Specifically, what would you be stupid to do? Sell it? or keep it? or both? :dunno:

Though call. It depends of how badly you want a tourbillon vs. how invested you are on the SH. From personal experience, I've gotten caught up in wanting to buy a watch so bad that I've gotten rid of some pieces that I know regret selling (Pam 127 - Omega PO - Tudor LDH). As others have suggested and if possible, keep the SH and save for the other.

I feel the same way I’m just afraid if I did sell it I’m gonna look back and kick myself.

Yup, I'd hang on to that Sea Hunter, it's a rare beauty. Great (and frustrating at times) thing about the Invicta brand is the price drops. The Tourbys do come up for a lot less now than ever before. I grabbed mine at $500, only to see it going for $400 a few weeks later, lol.

They seem to hover mostly around the $800 point, give or take a hundred bucks, but they do drop from time to time. Considering other brands are using the same movement, and charging a lot more, I think even $800 is a steal, although it is beyond my allowable limit for an Invicta, haha, just considering what else is in that price bracket.

A bit odd, probably, to even say that, because no other Tourby is in that range, but I just wasn't sure enough of the movement to consider it worth it, next to what else I might like to have. Now that I own one, I'd consider that price pretty reasonable, if you like the case design being used, which changes from time to time, of course (mine is the SAS case).
