Quick question: How would you guys feel if I removed the option of payment via PP? They recently introduced some ridiculous fees for Singaporean companies only so I'm looking to switch payment processors. Stripe is looking pretty attractive right now..

Stripe and PayPal are tools you can use to handle online payment processing, but they’re also so much more. With its slew of interconnected products ranging from mobile payments to financing services, I think it’s safe to say that PayPal is a household name. And Stripe — while more of a “behind the scenes” processor with a brand name customers don’t necessarily recognize — also has a long list of very popular clients and partners. Both are popular ways of processing payments for eCommerce; if you’ve bought something online, there’s a good chance your payment went through one of the two.

So in the Stripe vs. PayPal debate, which has the advantage?

Stripe VS PayPal: Quick Comparison

Stripe and PayPal are online credit card processors with similar pricing. Both charge 2.9% + $0.30 per online transaction. Both support invoicing and recurring billing. PayPal is a trusted name and incredibly easy to use, but Stripe offers a deeper feature-set thanks to powerful developer tools.

PP is a name people trust. Yes the fees fory ou are unfair but as with many businesses you either eat it or pass it on to the customer. One thing I like is transparency on this. If you tell people the price is going up and why most people are ok with that, especially if it's just for Singapore sellers

Actually you and plenty of other folks won't have to deal with the decision because Elshan will never make sizes that appeal to large size fans. The steady customers are fine with ditching PayPal. As a matter of fact I've been disenchanted with PP for several years. I dropped PPC and I get the same layers of coverage from my bank. They are useful if something goes wrong, but those times are few and far between. I can see why TymeBandit and Hawk dropped them long ago. I haven't seen Arthur around. I hope he is well.

Elshan:

They are adding an extra 3% on top of the usual 3-4% processing fees, so practically double

Can them! We all have credit cards and banks, we can pay direct or sign up for a new service with lower fees.

No problems at all.. Stripe is one of the largest processors / providers out there so you’d be sure of consistent service!
If people want PayPal that can probably be kept as an option in addition to another with the additional costs passed on to those who choose PayPal

I'd rather pay my suppliers for better parts or charge lower prices than pay PP for some fee they decided to implement without reason 🙂

Credit card for me is fine. Although I must say the six months no interest has caused me to buy a few other watches I might not have bought

I never use PayPal if credit card is an option. Their exhange rate is very poor for me, so I rather use my card and get my banks own exchange rate. So NO problem here 🙌

Paypal vs direct credit card processing makes little difference to me - most times I am simply funding the Paypal transaction with my primary CC anyway.

I've been using PayPal, but I'd be happy to start using a direct debit/credit card or figure out a PayPal alternative to save you fees.
I'd be fine with a different option.

Wow! Yeah that's not good. Imo, if I was you since you, I would leave it as an option and add the fee to the end total along with other options for payment. Sort of like how people in the past have done with American Express credit cards and their crazy fees. Paypal, unfortunately, is a universal payment method for so many.

Elshan:
Might have to bite the fees if there's enough demand for PP though, as there isn't a way to charge extra for such fees with the current store layout.

People will pay it and don't mind to pay it. May have to make a separate purchase for the paypal fee as bad as that sounds. Make one for each watch price or make one $3 paypal charge for every $100. Just throwing out options. 3% is alot for a company to have to eat in addition to the other 3-4%.

I hate PP and would be glad if you removed it, read so many horror stories recently between PP and ebay for an example.

I use PP a lot, but I certainly understand trying to avoid getting hammered by fees. Dropping PP certainly wouldn’t keep me from supporting Zelos.

Elshan:

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Its very much appreciated. I'll run a trial without PP for a few days and gauge how that goes. Payments will be processed via CC through stripe but you wouldn't need any account with them.

As long as payment can be made by credit card of some kind not a problem. screw PP for real. everyone should cut them out.

I prefer using PayPal over a credit card but it’s your business, ultimately you’ll have to do what’s best for you.

With a credit card you have a right of charge back if goods do not arrive or not fit for purpose.

PP is convenient but I don't think switching from it would be a deal breaker of any kind as a customer.

F*ck paypal 🙂

Do what you need to do I’ll still buy no matter what.

Under normal tymes I would agree, but this year has been worlds apart from anything normal with COVID-19.

TB, so it goes. I just hope he's good!

bottom line hope TB is well myself...ARTHUR was always 1 of the good guys...luvs his tools... shared some laughs ...a charter member

Seems there could be additional fees for those who are PP fans. I kind of agree with the majority. Although the poll here reflects to keep PP, we are in the minority. Let the fans of PayPal choosing that method absorb the hit. If they want the watches they will find a way or else buy another brand.
If a watch cost $449.00 they would pay an additional $17.96 in PayPal fees @ the extra 4%. I have credit cards that charge less interest compared to the fees PayPal charges. They hit me a few times once on a Crepas order with exchange rates. Never again!~

I chatted with Arthur the other day. He said he was just burned out with the watch hobby and was putting some time in to other hobbies that he hadn’t been doing much of but he’d be back
