Squale 600 Meter Swiss Made Automatic Dive Watch with 42mm Carbon Fiber Case #T183BL

This new Squale T183BL watch was first shown at Baselworld 2019. It is now available for sale. The T183BL case is made from carbon fiber, a highly resistant and extremely light material. The case is 42mm in diameter and it is constructed with alternating layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass. Carbon is naturally black (or dark gray). The T183R combines the black with a blue colored fiberglass (as highlights) to create a unique looking case.

The metal components of the watch (bezel, screw-down crown and caseback) are coated in DLC (diamond- like carbon), which is more wear resistant than PVD. The bezel insert used in the 120-click bezel is made of ceramic and the triangle at 12 o'clock emits a blue glow in the dark. An important feature of the T183BL is the Super-LumiNova® that is featured both on the indices and on the hands. Super-LumiNova along with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal allows for perfect readability even under extreme conditions.

The movement that powers the watch is a Swiss Made, Sellita SW200 Elaboré with a 38-40 hour power reserve. The watch strap is made with an innovative micro-fiber material that is both water and wear-resistant. Contrasting blue stitching is used to compliment the case and dial.

I remembered the CARBON CASE put out by TEMPEST/BEN ...ROAD WARRIOR educated me... these CARBON CASE/ have an SS INNER CASE

apropos of nothing... this carbon pin stripe and TIMASCUS are " too far out there for me " while I appreciate the metallurgy/chemistry as high art... they don't resonate JMHO and I wouldn't want the high prices...

try to mansplain these watches to a non-addict... kinda defeats the purpose of " conspicuous consumption " imho ...they are so obscure as to be unrecognizable as valuable objects...mostly I do stuff only for myself... but with an expensive or valuable watch I need it to appear incontrovertibly expensive...all jmho jmho

Poor finishing shows the blue being exposed on the back of the watch case

Having ordered two of these watches and returned them both for the same reason, I wanted other collectors to be aware of this problem.. Although this watch is very cool in several respects, the carbon watch case is very poorly finished. Both watches I received had areas where both colors (in my case the black and the blue) where present where only one color should be showing. This likely results from not properly finishing the top most layer, exposing the lower layer. Attached is a photo of the back of the watch case (which should be black) but you can see the blue is exposed over a large area. Both watches I received also had this problem with the crown protector- giving me a two tone protector, and this was on the front facing side! Interesting that the on air watches do not show these defects. You may not care, but the carbon case is one of the major features, and it is just not a quality case as the photo shows.

These were worth the cheap price that

was blowing them out for, but not what some people paid.
