The Everest "Expedition" is a nod to the Smiths A454, a member of the Everest family but also known as the "Antarctic" because it was used by Sir Vivian Fuchs and Sir Edmund Hillary during their Trans-Antarctic expedition 1955-58.

This new version (introduced following overwhelming demands from customers) has a hi-dome sapphire crystal, the bracelet is now the "rivet" bracelet, as it will be on all the 36mm Everest family and is now fitted with a conventional clasp, more fitting to the style of the watch.

The movement has been changed to the Miyota 9039 which is identical to the 9015 except it doesn't have a "ghost" date position on the stem.

Supplied with tan leather strap in a two-watch travelling case with 24 months guarantee.

Some outstanding offerings, from Smiths. Thanks for posting this Mike.

some thoughts SMITHS AIR MINISTRY PRS-29AM

- the reviewer possessed of 6.5" inch english wrist saddle...he loved the watch...he had no criticisms but 2 nits

sharp machined edge on bottom outer circumference case back which is just to be aware of and not really interfering with function and won't cut you

also crown is small tough to finger

-furnace blued spade or dauphin hands a thing of beauty

-crisp dial a bullseye on function

-36mm dial like wearing nothing... COMMENT ON SIZE...I think because it is substantial in L2L 47mm it wears bigger...and lug extension is substantial ...

like I have posted the men of GR8 BRITAIN & USA wore this size and smaller during GR8 WARS...

-not sure why RUSSIAN OFFICERS wore oversize watches

-and LUFTWAFFEN wore 54mm OEM FLIEGER over a flight jacket...on loan for a flight and returned to company equipment after a mission which did not involve crash and death

SIZE MATTERS TWSS...

P.S.

the CREAM DIAL /FURNACE BLUED HANDS ins entitled SMITH'S AIR MINISTRY... MISTAKE IN CASE BACK STAMPING...

stamped SMITH PRS-29A ( the AM is missing...like a stamp with defective stamping )
