RENATO VULCAN COLLECTION AUTOMATIC WATCH

PART OF A LIMITED EDITION OF 75 PIECES

With its ornate Claus de Paris texture, open-heart dial, and four hexagonal screws on the case, the Renato Vulcan is anything but understated. Powered by a Sellita SW-200-1 movement, the Vulcan ticks for 38 hours on a full charge. From the front, you can see te movement at work through the framed open-heart complication. Though the watch measures 46 millimeters wide, the case is curved to hug the wearer’s wrist. Sapphire is used for the crystal to ensure the dial looks clean and legible under any conditions—not to mention there’s a screw-down crown that contributes to a 300-meter water-resistance rating.

Nice, but the problem is; it's very difficult to read the time based on the combination of skeleton hands and all the dial decoration. That was not a priority in Daniel's designs but for a few of the models.

The Vulcan and Stallion were always my favorites from Renato

I thought XO Skeleton bought Renato and is still producing certain models? Tim Temple has been promoting them on "Talk About Watches" on FB.

xoswatch is the parent site. These prices blow away TAW prices. I think those guys are fading into the sunset anyhow.

Agree with you 100%. In its heyday Renato was my favorite brand, resulting in numerous purchases. I still love the brand. But as you mentioned skeleton hands, poor contrast, and busy dials made it difficult to tell the time.

and

My sentiments exactly, this particular execution of this model is hard to read.

I have a bunch of Renato's that are tough to read. Avulcan, Stallion, Cyclops, Calibre Robusto among others. Still they look great on the wrist. These have to be newer stock as renato always used eta2824, valgrange or valjoux auto's back in the day. Tempted to add this one as my one Vulcan is a quartz model.
