Renato Comeback?

That sucks. You're the first person I can remember choosing Invicta "quality" over Renato. I agree w Mike on Daniel's rep and burned bridges, among "borrowing" many style. But I've found them to appear to be more well made, overall. I would like to strangle to guy responsible for making proprietary caseback screws with soft phillips heads, then adding in loctite for that ticking timebomb.
But I have a few left in my collection I can't imagine ever wanting to part with, and I have kicked about 80% of my quartz to the curb.
If I was flexible enough, I'd kick my own ass for not grabbing an auto Stallion years back when many were circulating on ebay, some as cheap as $500, but I had 3 quartz at that time, and was even cheaper than I am now :banghead:
I didn't choose the quality I've just out of the 25 renato's I own four have crashed out completely, I also have plating issues on a rose tone model, a goldtone model, and a gun metal model, plus the numerous stripped screws on many of the others. So although I think they are great looking watches and still have them all, I'm not going to say for me me their quality is the worlds greatest. Same deal with my brother and he only owns ten and three of his crapped out. Don't get me wrong I've had as many failures with Invicta's but I have many more of those so the rate of failure isn't as great. I was a big renato booster back in their heyday then came the tourby fiasco which I was among a number who had ordered one. Mink was a scumbag and a grifter . His partner was worse. I heard many stories from someone who knew them both and they weren't pretty. I still like all the ones I have that are still functioning but I don't ever want to deal with anything Mink is part of ever again.

I agree Joel, I still enjoy all of mine as well.

All of my Renatos are the older models with sapphire crystals and built solid. I only lost one because of a leaking 'Swiss Made" Renata battery. The Ronda 7004N big date retrograde movement was destroyed from the acid. One big reason I'm not too fond of pulling the crowns to reserve power. The risk isn't worth the reward IMO. The biggest issues I've had with mine are those tiny screws to open the case backs. They have to be the worst screws ever made. The cross slot style heads are super soft metal and very shallow and even with the best screw drivers and the correct size they are always a challenge. The screw heads just seem to disintegrate no matter how much care is used. Finding the correct size to replace these micro screws is a lost cause. That point is moot and would only matter if I was able to remove the OEM garbage screws to replace.
