I picked up this ETA/Unitas 6498-1 Jacques du Manior back in early 2017 for $150 off the Bay . . .

Never liked the hands and ordered replacements. Then I couldn't open the case back, no matter what I tried. Took it to my jeweler and he opened it from the front . . . derp

Things happened, plus I was lazy and also a bit apprehensive about messing up, which always makes procrastinating easier.

Today, I finally pulled off the old hands and replaced them with the ones I ordered.

Of course the seconds hand was the smallest and took the longest to get on. I believe they are an improvement over the originals.

Closed the case up and then had to find a band for it. This was the one it arrived with back in 2017 (but with the new hands on the dial).

I finally decided on this one, which is actually off a cheap Amazon watch, so now I will have to look for a similar replacement that is better quality

I forgot to take pre replacement hand pics, so as I was going back through google photos to find some, when I noticed I had done a side by side comparison with another 6498-1 movement watch that I had bought around the same time, for slightly more than twice as much.

Apparently I wasn't very thorough on cleaning the crystals prior to taking pictures, back in 2017 . . .

They both have all the right stamps on the movements, but under magnification, the superior quality of the movement in the Victorinox is apparent. Not sure if this is because of a higher grade used by Victorinox, or if the Jacques is a knock off doppelganger, or what.

Here they are side by side today, after the hand upgrade to the du Manior . . .

The quality differences between the 2 brands are obvious as the Victorinox clearly lands heads and tails above the du Manior, and if I ever had to pick between the two, I would easily pay the slightly more than double (the du Manior was used, and the Vicky was new) the Victorinox cost on sale. That being said, I am happy that I finally got the hands swap done and can enjoy wearing the watch, instead of having it sitting unloved in a box with the front case loosely taped to it, waiting for my attention.

Plus, now my old eyes can much more easily pick out the new hands!
