I'm wondering if some people are stuck trying to figure out the forum was imported from vBulletin to ZenoForo. I know many people are busy in everyday things, but it seems some that would normally drop in have not landed and made the crossover here yet.

I never checked before making the transition, so I'm not sure what they could be seeing when hitting old links.

Contact users
There are three methods by which users can be contacted directly: Alerts, Email and Messages.

Each of these methods employ criteria to determine precisely which users will be contacted.

Alert users
This method will generate an alert containing your message, and display it along with the target user's other notifications, which would include alerts for replies to their topics, messages posted on their profile page etc.

When creating the alert, you can specify a URL to which the receiving users will be redirected when they click on the alert, along with a message to be used for the alert body text.

The alert method is the least intrusive way to contact users, but it is also possible that a user with many unread alerts may miss the message you send.

Email users
The email method will generate an email and send it to all the users that match the criteria you specify. You may send a plain text email, or a full HTML email.

To create a consistent look for your email, you may optionally wrap it in the standard XenForo system email wrapper.

You may also include an unsubscribe link with your email, in case any of the receiving users do not wish to receive any further emails of this kind.

Finally, you may opt not to actually send an email, but rather just generate a list of email addresses that match the criteria you specify, in order to send a message using a different email system, outside of XenForo itself.

All the old links should lead right here, so they shouldn't be seeing anything else. The first time they access the site they should see the instructions to reactivate their account.

Thanks Steve. I was just wondering. I know a few people like CG and dorthyparker with e-mail used had issues. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, there was a few that had changed email addresses since they registered. They either sent me an email and I updated it so they could reactivate their account or they registered a new account then let me know and I merged their new account back into the old one so they had their original user name, registration date and post count.

When the forum got up and running anew a few weeks back on the v-bulletin format for a full week all I got was a 403 forbidden message for a whole week plus. Was about to give up as I did everything I could to fix that message used every method on all the sites that showed you how to fix the message and nothing worked. Only when the new format popped up was I able to get back on the forum. To be honest I had pretty much given up and decided to try one more time and the new format was there to get into. Maybe there are a number of people who were in my situation that just gave up trying to come back. Might be worth a email blast to people, especially to people who were heavy users of the site who haven't made it over here. Like I said I had pretty much gave up after over a week plus and getting the same server 403 forbidden message and I tried every device in my house including 3 of my wife's devices whose devices aren't really connected to mine. I new the old v-bulletin site was working again only because I'm using a pre-paid burner phone for calls at work temporarily and I could get on the v-bulletin site there. That is why I kept trying even though I was getting nowhere until the new format was installed. I think some people figured they were cut loose, banned, or just gave up trying.

I for one am glad you found your way back CG. You have always been an honest, stand up member. I always appreciate the information and things you provide about old Invicta models, etc. Not to mention I always enjoy having some friendly discussions with you.

I have sent out a mass email today. You should receive it also alerting members on the update. Thanks for the suggestion RW and CG!

Hey Steve did that go out to everyone, even the ones who are here right on the new site? If it was everyone I never received anything. I checked the spam folder, etc. Sometimes these bulk email things can have a delivery lag time. Thanks

No, I only sent it out to people that weren't active at the time. Since you were online when it went out you shouldn't get one.

I'm glad you found your way back, my friend.
