Welcome back everyone. We suffered a fatal database crash trying to update software.

The data in the forum was nearly six years old and I had done so many customization in the old software that carried over through the years that somehow the coding got crossed and caused major damage. At least that is the thought.

We tried restoring from several backup databases, but each one gave the same result. Oddly enough the software update went fine on the test site, so we tried moving the test site here to the live site and soon as it went live it crashed and burned too.

I do still have all the data in a backup taken from June 22nd right before the crash. I have a developer that is going to try to recover the data to be migrated back into the forum at a later date, but no estimate on time or if he will even be successful. So for now, this was the best I could do.

It's devastating to me that this has happened and I apologize for the catastrophe. I hope we can build back and continue the fellowship I have enjoyed so much through the years.

I know this stuff isn't easy, Steve. And we all know you want to save all the history. Thanks for all your efforts, and we'll be pulling for you to recover as much as possible. :)

Nothing that will keep me away 😀 . In the grand scheme of things, what happened, while unfortunate, is no biggie by any stretch. At least in my opinion. Thanks Steve for all your efforts as always.

Can't be easy Steve, and sometimes you just have to start over, just look at my new Avatar. LOL
Things happens I'm just glad we are up and running. You owe no apologies here. You have done major lifting to always keep us going.

Steve,

Computer electronics is so difficult at times.
One day at a time and I'm sure it will all be fixed in time.
Keep the faith as you have put years and a massive amount
of time into this great community.
It is deeply appreciated.

At least I have a chance to keep up with some you high posters, for now. LOL

I'm going in and manually updating old members registration date to the original and updating their post count as they register again.

Because I had nothing else to do I kept count of button clicks for refresh.... 1,874,932. Now I can get back to doing other less important things.

This really sucks! I knew something was wrong when I kept getting error messages and the site would not load etc. Just tried to sign on and it said I put in the wrong info then I read that the page was LOST and I had to rejoin. Hope you guys can find it and restore all the posts.

So glad to have the forum back - really missed it especially with little else to do. We all support you Steve in all you do for the watch lovers community my thoughts and prayers are with you during this stressful time in more ways than one. Try to get some rest now..
One thing I noticed is the Off Topic forum does not have a new topic button and I miss the drop a word add a word thread there.

Best Regards,
Lawrence

Ps Thanks for getting my badges back!
