Warning -- may contain long rambling thought sequences and far too many pictures....

Proceed, or skip, at your own discretion.

What do you get when you join an outstanding community? Fellowship, resources, knowledge, support and a place to hang your virtual hat with like minded souls. For me, I can’t thank everyone here enough, and my heartfelt appreciation to the makers and shapers and members of this site, who keep it always positive and welcoming.

As I’ve mentioned, my watch hobby passion had waned, substantially, before I found this forum, as I had become mired in the negativity and judgmental “classism” of other places, where one could actually be blasted as a “bad person” for buying the “wrong” watch if it was not approved at the forum’s resident high table of opinion (aka, snobbery).

I’ve edited this post way down, from rambling on this topic, because I know no one comes on here to read a book, but I think what I was trying to say when I first was writing this out, is just a HUGE thank you to the WiT community.

I knew ZERO when I started into this hobby, nearly two decades ago, which is much of why I tried to learn from forums, to become informed about this new passion. But, as is so often the case, what is taught depends much on the teachers and I wound up learning that this hobby could wind up being not so fun anymore.

Then I came here, and my fun was much renewed, and my little collection has grown as a result. I own watches now I didn’t even know I wanted, haha, so, thanks everybody!

I guess I am babbling about this because this buy seems a bit grail-ish, if even on a small (dare I say, "micro") scale.

As I’ve shared previously, I do have some “pedigreed” brands on my some day wish list (an Omega, a Panerai, a Zenith) but, really, my interest is in brands doing the way out stuff (more the Greubel Forsey and Uwerk type) so I definitely appreciate brands that are delivering out of the ordinary watches – but that don’t run to the half a million dollars and beyond point, lol.

So, getting a watch that is even a faint echo of brands that thrill me is quite pleasing and that’s how I feel about this creation, from a brand (and a model) I already know, but presented in an especially pleasing design.

Again, it’s one I first spied, here, and I found one still for sale in the Netherlands (where I also found a GREAT online store, Serious Watches).

Arrived with a Cape Cod polishing cloth, plus a personalized note of thanks and they GIFT WRAPPED it, WOW; they even padded the interior of the watch box so that the buckle of the watch roll wouldn’t scratch the inside of the box lid.

And, yup, it’s another Zelos and a second Abyss 3, but, this time in the bronze, with the absolutely stunning meteorite dial and meteorite bezel.

I continue to be so pleasantly surprised at what can be purchased from a Micro, or even from some of the “lesser lauded” brands, where price is vastly less than the "nice watch" mainstream. I’ve said before that it feels a bit like getting over on a high priced industry. I mean, no, it’s not the nuanced elements of the elite brands, but there’s certainly more than enough quality and beauty and reliability to be more than pleased for what is paid.

Not that the high brands aren’t the best of the best in what they do (and, as I’ve said, a few super grails remain on my radar), and, yes, they do set the standard by which we can confidently say that a watch build has achieved something, but I really do enjoy brands that create their own easily accessible table at the watch world banquet.

One could spend fifteen grand, sure, but spend LESS than a grand, and still be amazed? That’s cake. I guess it’s a bit like beating a Porsche or Maserati in my built little Bimmer, haha. It IS satisfying, I can say from experience, LOL.

Anyway, I’m waxing philosophic, I know, sorry, but my latest buy here just feels great, and I have this community to thank.

So, yes, the Zelos Abyss 3, with the crazy 3000m water resistance, in bronze, with space rock, and a space rock bezel, amazingly comfortable rubber strap (with branding on the keeper and the buckle), industry-best lume, Swiss SW200 high beat movement, sapphire crystal, engraved case back and of course the wonderful presentation box and leather watch roll. There’s just nothing not to love here!

Even the limited production run gives an added sense of exclusivity.

This truly feels like wearing a submarine from space, haha. What a bonkers mix of specs that imparts such a glorious feeling in ownership. This is a best buy purchase, for me, right at the top of my little band of personally grail-esque watches.

It just wonderfully feels a bit like having a Koenigsegg quality ride out in my garage, that I picked up for the price of a Toyota.

Having yammered enough, the watch can say the rest….

Do Micros get awards in the industry?? This one should certainly get a medal. It is truly one outstanding watch!

And, again, to this forum and its members, thank you! This is another one I would not have known about, without it being shared here. A drawback of the vastness of the current watch world is simply the lack of awareness of all the options, and even most websites don’t give any real kind of feeling for the watches they sell.

Wing, at Aragon, does well, I think, using the Invicta/shopping channel model of video presentations, but, even there, the best presentation on earth doesn’t help if someone doesn’t know where to look, or have the time to keep up on every new offering, which, again, is what brings such value in this community, as a clearinghouse of sorts, with members presenting their various finds.

Whether into a collection, starting at ground zero, mid-way through, or adding some last pieces to it, or whether just enjoying and sharing what one has and supporting fellow members, this place is just awesome in the benefits it provides.

This one’s a wonderful buy, no doubt. :dance2: :dance2: :dance2:

On a side note about the softness of bronze, I did manage to surprise myself with a nasty scratch in the side of the case, not too long after the watch arrived. I thoughtlessly set it down on a rough stone surface, and, wow, what a dig that left! I researched a kit that comes with about 16 different grades of polishing squares, a jeweler's rouge cloth and another Cape Cod cloth, and the damage buffed out, completely, so that was a relief.

Oh, and I even have since found a complimentary winder, as a happy house for this new beast. Blond wood grain matches the bronze, woot woot!

Thanks for reading; apologies for the lengthy tour of my odd thinking, haha.

Keep on watching!

Seriouswatches are great to deal with. That is a very nice looking piece of space rock you got there. The striations on that one is great! Enjoy that beauty and wear it often.

Great watch 2MW, congrats. The dent should heal in time with patina. I have a Hammerhead2 with a meteorite bezel and an Abyss 3

I know you mentioned how the HH2 looks small compared to the Abyss3. I posted some comparison photos below.

Dang that's super nice. I know I'm a broken record but if they made these in a 48mm+ I'd have a few. Love the look

Excellent piece of space rock!
Great pics too! You're really expanding the collection with some super nice additions.
Congrats!

Now that's some Zelos, major love coming through. Fantastic look with the
Milky Way dust!

Great watch , nice packaging , a Cape Cod polishing cloth , and a handwritten note of thanks. It looks like Z knows how to deliver quality. After all , most of us here are used to receiving a watch that is hit or miss quality and then receiving the finger for our support. Congrats and thanks for the pix.

Not sure which word to pick: Awesome...incredible...stellar...magnificent? Take your pick. They ALL apply. Very cool! Congrats!
