📸 Fototime down FOREVER! Not coming back on line, ever! see pg 12

Temporarily I'm going to use Google Photos to post pictures on-line. I will use my Fotoalbum on my desktop to organize them & simply upload the albums from there. I've been searching for a replacement for the Fototime capabilities and haven't found one yet.
I got Google Drive as backup storage for photos and documents on my hard drive. I don't think you can generate links for online use though, but at $2 a month, it's cheap insurance. I tried Photos once for my pictures but it's way too clumsy to navigate in for me.

You can generate links to photos in Google Photos and yes, it's very clumsy. That's why I'm still going to use Fotoalbum to organize my photos until I find suitable photo management software.

Thanks so much. I tried the phone numbers and I think I was the one reporting one worked. But he never answered.

Is anyone located in Colleywood or Dallas Texas?

Has anyone found a contact for the owners of Fototime? Any new ground or leads on that?

I am still trying to contact to get my late 14 year old daughters pictures off them.
Someone may have given you this already, but outside of that phone number you found...but no luck. This is what I found:

I have managed to write a proof-of-principle conversion program from FotoAlbum albums to publishing on piwigo including transfer of captions into tags. This converts the SQLite3 Fotoalbum data to mySQL tables for piwigo.

Everything has been done on a Raspberry Pi under Linux.

So *IF*

a) You are willing to publish on a local server
b) Have the original FotoAlbum information and original photos

and are interested, I can write up a description of how to do it.

I went to the Fototime website today and they have a statement saying they had a "catastrophic outage" to "infrastructure and data" and they have "ceased operations".

I'm just gutted. I feel sick. I had many thousands of photos linked to posts on dozens of forums over the course of 20 years.

You're not alone, Brad. This whole situation just sucks.

Thank you for that. I will not give up.

FotoTime

On March 10, due to circumstances beyond our control, FotoTime suffered a catastrophic outage. This outage effected both the infrastructure and data. Regretably, due to this outage, FotoTime has ceased operations.

We would like to thank all of our customers for supporting us all of these years. This difficult decision to cease operations was the only option available to us.

This was recently posted on google.

I wish there was a line of communication open for this.

OK I will write it up and post a link.

I do have a problem at present where the tags and comments are not showing even though I believe everything is correctly in the piwigo database. I think I have to enable them for visibility but how is the question! However general photo transfer works fine and maintains the ordering in FotoAlbum.

Here is a link to a description of how to transfer an album in FotoAlbum to hosting on piwigo whilst (hopefully) maintaining any associated captions

I am still leaning various complexities and this linked file will be updated with new information and improvements as I glean it.

Although this description is specific to home hosted Piwigo on a Raspberry Pi, hosting sites which do Piwigo appear to be available and all software generated is in portable languages (i.e web servers, SQLite, mysql) so basic principles could be transferrable to other platforms.

Thank you so much! I’m studying your instructions!

Hope you find the piwigo description useful. Regarding the program, I am now experiencing Mysql syntax errors on a previously error free version (updated MariaDB version???). Will have to go through it line by line to find fault, but may be a few days. Will update Drive description as new info becomes available.

Hi,

I'm new here. I just did my regular check for updates to FotoAlbum Pro and found that the company has closed. My sympathies to everyone who has lost their pictures and memories. I am not so badly off as my pictures are stored on my PC and catalogued in FotoAlbum Pro. However, there are twenty years of albums, subalbums and captions that I do not want to lose access to.

I will look into piwigo as recommended by rallan, thank you so much.

Piwigo looks a bit too complicated for me, it seems to need a separate machine and a network to access it (apologies if I've misunderstood this). I would just like something like FotoAlbum that sits on my PC and to which I can transfer all my albums and captions from FotoAlbum relatively easily. Does anyone know of an application like this?

Since we think the reason for Fototime's demise was the server fire in France, anyone think there is hope since the facility is slowly coming back online? Probably just wishful thinking since the Fototime guys have had no response other than to say they are gone.
