The non-profit Veterans Watchmaker Initiave works with disabled veterans to train them as watchmakers in the watch repair program founded by Sam Cannan. With the help of donations, like the generous one from RT Custer, they have been able to expand the program and build a new 2000 sq. ft. service center on its Odessa campus from a converted Amish pole barn. Custer, owner of Vortic Watch Company, has donated enough money to open and fully finish the student service center that is set to open February 26, 2021, with the building being named RT Custer Vortic Building. WWI has contracted with Bulova to work on watches sent to them through the mail. Recent graduates will have to option to start their career as a watchmaker at the center or even spend only a month working before finding employment elsewhere.

A worthy endeavor to help our vets.
